Is there a fix for the dreamfleet Cardinal in FSX

It's still a nice plane, but the VC is not workable as the windows are completely black.

You might start by looking at Alpha channels for the window textures using paint editing tool such as DXTBmp.

If this problem is anything similar to the texture problems found in certain AI non-flyable aircraft that were designed for FS9 but otherwise work in FSX you might be able to adjust the alpha channels RBG values by changing the values to something near transparent and replace the original window textures. I wished I had a more complete answer. As far as Vertual Cockpit functionality is concerned, I have possible solutions there.

I got DF Cardinal working in FSX and P3D, only issue in P3d is the missing alphatexture effect. FS9 models are not fully compatible with P3d, but everything works fine in FSX.

The Dreamfleet Cardinal works OK in FSX DX10. The black window issue can be resolved by using the FS2004 update found on the Dreamfleet Cardinal web page ( http://dreamfleet2000.com/Previews/C177/0_FS9.htm ). Other suggestions are in a flightsim thread from January 2013 - search for "Dreamfleet Cardinal for FSX".

Doing that, switching to the DX10 preview mode, gives me an albino plane with no textures at all. But indeed the windows are transparent.

Roland:
In your original FS2004 Cardinal panel folder there should be a 'panelOptions' containing original panel.cfg files. Pick one, rename to 'panel.cfg' and change VC 'pixel_size=1024,1024'. Copy file 'df177ec.gau' from FS2004 'Gauges' and paste into your FSX Cardinal 'panel' folder.

So how did you guys get around the window issue?

I didn't. Even with all the help I got. Thank you, I really appreciate it. I'll gladly return the favor! But perhaps It's time for me to accept the fact that this really is a fs2002 bird and go on to the Alabeo version....
