Is there a way to prevent Windows 7 from switching to basic every time I fire up FSX? I know there was a fix for this if you ran Vista, just wondering if Windows 7 has something similar.

I think if you go into Control Panel/Personalization, and change the theme to Windows Basic, that it will fix that problem. Let me know.

nope...I usually run it with Aero enabled. But when I start FSX, it switches the color scheme to basic...I was wondering if there is a way to prevent this. :wavey:

That's weird. Because when I change the theme to "basic", that message does not pop up any more.

FSX was designed to turn Aero off when it is started. This is because both Aero and FSX are very video resource hungry.

you can't change the Aero shutting off but you can 'tweak' the color of windows basic, I changed my basic to a shiny dark grey which to me was much better than that really bright light blue or whatever it was.

Here is a guide on how to do it. You may want to create a restore point first as it involves some file tweaking.

The annoying switcheroo from Aero to basic upon every FSX or 3DS Max start was what made me switch to Blackbox. I didn't regret it, even 'though I've lost some features and plugins compared to the XP version.
