I've found out what makes paint and noseart dissapear..

In the config program there is a tab for "texture Info" On that page there is a slider for
"composite aircraft texture max dimensions" If you increase this way up to 10240 there is no paint stripes, #'s or nose art shown on the aircraft they all disappear for some odd reason. If this isn't new news please disregard. But if you can't see your paint you probably have it set too high. What exact number makes it disappear? That I don't know yet. I have mine set to 2048 and it shows fine.
 
There are some settings suggested by the Ground Crew Design Group for 2048x2048 textures that have this value at 5101 which I am using and its quite fine.
