Taking a break from Pearl, thought you might like somewhere to fly the Japanese aircraft in your hanger from---

Iwakuni is today an US marine corp airbase home to their F35's, but started life in 1940 as a training base for the Japanese naval air arm and part of the Etajima Naval Academy. After the war became home to the Royal Navy FAA and New Zealand force's and to the RAAF during the Korean war, so good flying oppotunities with many IJN type's including Chris and Shessi's A4N, but also RN and RZN F-4 Corsair's and Australian Sea Fury's and Gloster Meteor's. There's also a water start for flying boats fans

Some great photo's here--http://www.royalnavyresearcharchive.org.uk/FAA-Bases/Iwakuni_Album.htm

Usuall suspects for the objects, Wolfi's and RAF Manston but also my Mingaladon-Burma FS9, found in the SOH FS9 scenery lib, as im using the CFS2 objects that i used for that scenery. You may want to check out the improved CFS2 object texture's by UncleTgt, found in SOH CFS2 scenery-library objects, they work just as well in 9 :)

Ive also started to play with the vehicles by Edmundo Abad, converted by our own Shessi, looking good Mark

You'll need Akemi's a6m2b Zero in your hangar, as there's a basic traffic file included, only static im afraid, but they still look good.
And thanks to stuart277 for the training ship Izumo, anchored just off shore

mmmm..very interesting Mr Bond.....

Looking good so far Ian, I like those concrete aprons better, doesn't give you a headache staring at it! lol

And the blended ground tex is a beaut...fits very well.

Cheers

Shessi

Thanks Ian, a very welcome addition as I didn't have any WWII Japanese airfields. Although I do have a complete fleet with carriers :biggrin-new:

Cheers,
Huub

Well done and much needed. Is there a way to pick the dock for a take off point? I slewed over there.

If you have ADE9X you could open the bgl file RJOI_ADE9_ADE and add a water start.

I would do that myself if I could somehow make time to get Iwakuni installed. One of these days I'll get it in there, but until then I can't make the edit because I'd need the airport installed in order to figure out just where to put the start location. If I had it installed and the start location done I'd just attach a copy here. I just don't know when I can get that done. I'm up to my ears on other projects and I have vry little hobby time lately.

Here you go Stoney, one water start within the dock area, just unzip and paste into your Iwakuni/scenery folder

Thanks Ian!

I would've done it eventually, but I'm so backed up right now that it would've taken me days, if not weeks, to get to it.
