Hello all,

I've seen this emerge in FS9 over the last 3 months or so, and was going to deal with it after I had fully set up CFS2 - and I see it here also.

I've got all my visual settings in the sim set to max (tri-filtering, all effects, 1280x1024), latest drivers, etc.

Some repaints (Pombee's in particular) show this really badly, and I have to believe it is something with my system, settings, etc., rather than the repaints.

System is a Pentium E220, 2.4 GHz, 3 GB Ram, Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT. I get fast (30+) frames, so I think things are fine otherwise. Any insights?

Many thanks,

dl

Hello W,

I had previously set them to "application controlled" - but after your question, I have set both to the max (16x and 16xQ respectively, set on the NVDIA control panel) - that did improve things a bit.

I think I can live with it now, but any thing I can still do to optimize is good to know.

thanks for the tip!

Hi DL,

If my repaints are causing you problems, it could be something to do with my system, as much as yours. The PC that I use when doing my repaints is quite old, but I have no problem running my skins on it. Perhaps my skins just don't work well on more up-to-date systems? I have zero technical knowledge when it comes to the nuts and bolts of PCs, so my idea could just be horse-pucky!!!

Cheers,

Hi Delta Lima,

Have you checked the Image Quality sliders in the Display Settings section? For plane textures ths slider involved would be Max.object texture size. You can move it to the right up to 1024 (x1024 pixels, I guess) to improve the look of the textures (as long as the textures allow it)

Thanks Jap (that sounded so wrong ... )

Indeed, I had checked that slider in particular - it, and the other ones on that dialogue box are all to the right. Good tip though! It was my AT and AA setting that have really helped. Mallorca, eh? I have an uncle in Palma ...

Hey Pom (the cultural pseudo-slurs just won't stop - honest, I didn't plan this!), thanks. I was looking for a really nice AH IIC repaint in RIAF colours - so when I found yours, I was so stoked. Alas, the colours don't seem to blend naturally - I know that's a terrible description, and not being at my sim pc bars me from posting a screenshot. Anyway - that repaint was precisely what I was after for a bit of Burmese/Indian campaign action I've got going, so I hope to resolve it, because it's just an awesome scheme, and I'm so thrilled you did it. I had just posted this: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=27817 and found yours later that day. I'll keep tinkering ... I'm sure it's me, not you, as the saying goes.

Regards,

DL - or, if I'm to follow the nickname nomenclature that seems to be popular, I'll have to rename myself something like " 'Spic Canuck" ... :)
