Japanese Disaster Relief

I'd like to give to the Japanese Red Cross, but I'm guessing my card will not work or I'd get p.o.ed half way through some paperwork. I will go with the Canadian Red Cross or salvation army. I wish I could put some money straight into their hand, I always feel only a small percent of what we give, if any, ever reaches the ones who need it most.

I don't know any Japanese folks, but they have got to be some of the nicest, most polite people on this planet. If that happened over here, half of us would be looting everything in site. The rest of us would be looking for a way to make a quick buck.

Hi Marereid

I donated to the Japanese Red Cross thru the link above. I had to create a Google market place account (takes 1 minute) but I know that the money is going directly to the Japanese people.

However if you would rather donate thru the CDN Red Cross here is the link

I have quite a few collegues over there and have been in touch since the weekend as much as possible, most of them are ok but things are very rough up north. Fortunately many survivors are being discovered so far 12,000 ..... but many were not so lucky because the water came so fast. They are great people, strong, stoic and they work together. I have not heard any one on Japanese tv in their on the site broadcasts complaining or blaming anyone or nature.... they are remarkable as a culture and as individuals. I keep hoping for the best possible outcome but i wish some of the US news people would tone down the rhetoric and stop grandstanding so much.

Fox news is the worst saying the Japanese Economy is about to crash (because of two day delay on car manufacture) and the nuclear plants are all about to blow up..(yes things are serious but they are doing the best they can...)

For now, lets all hope and pray and help as we can.
