If Jeff believes he is getting too old to drive beyond this season, why would he get into an open wheel car? He has nothing to prove, he has already done that.

As I understand it, in 2016, Gordon will be running "limited" NASCAR races so he won't be completely retired....And a limited NASCAR season definitely frees him up for the 500 (which he stated was a dream of his to drive in)...
