Hi!

i am tempted to purchase JF DC-8 50-70 for some serious cargo operations in P3D 3.4. I have understood there has been problems with the frame rates with it. Have these problems been solved with the sps? How is it in other ways? How does the autopilot and FMC work? I don't fly much with the jets and I just don't like fmc and other means of computing, but the price is quite good and after all Eight is an old school plane.

Hi
I use the JF DC-8 50-70 and for me with my moderate system (Intel 4460) the frame rate is better for me with V3.4 than with earlier versions of both Prepar3d and the DC-8. The service packs have (for me ) improved the frame rate nicely. I have yet to add the most recent JF update which apparently improves portions of the FMC.
Hope this helps

Aerosoft are in the process of developing a DC-8 if you are willing to wait, it being done by a different team than the airbus so it may be released sooner than first thought

Yes, Warren, that helped and was good news.

I did not know that Aerosoft has project like that. Looks interesting, but unfortunately no cargo version for some time.

I need to think about this again, how to do my cargo haulage which are too long for DC-3 and F-27...

Hi again
I don't use a lot of payware but the Captain Sim 727 can occasionally be purchased at a good price and it offers some very good cargo versions. There is a C-97 available on this sight which works for me in P3 V3.4 and has cargo door and such. In addition there is also a great BAC 1-11 available here, a few of which we're used as freighters at some point - no freight door but otherwise one of the best freeware jets out there and works in V3.4.
Take care
Warren

I have the earlier DC-8-10 to 40. Works great in V4, used it in V3 still good. Old primitive autopilot is a bit of a challenge and there is no auto-throttle. I was tempted to get the 50-70 pack but was not sure the autopilot was any more modern and Pan Am only operated the -30.
