im just hoping my friend allen doesnt get in trouble for this...he is one of the lead engine builders now at JGR
 
Another case of NASCAR sticking their collective noses where they need not be. They do not need to regulate every part on the car. Leave some room for inovation by the teams like it used to be. This is one of the main reasons Jr Johnson quit.

And each time that they do, NASCAR looks more and more like IROC....:mixedsmi:

I still think the most interesting case of NASCAR meddling over something legal was the case with the "T-Rex"....Perhaps IROC is the best option :engel016:
 
It was common back when innovation in F1 was not confined to Aero-bloody-dynamics to build a car below the minimum weight and ballast it back up to the regulation limit.
The ballast could be placed where it could do the most good.
Ed has it right, NASCAR might as well go the IROC route.

Yep, and I watched one IROC race, boring as hell. The pans that were removed were not illegal, just weighed more than other team's pans. Moving weight around is a good way to improve the handling and performance of a car. Ford's FR9 engines have a unique cylinder cooling jacket system and more weight in the bottom of the engine block than other makes engines, will NASCAR confiscate all the FR9 engines as well?

Of course, with NASCAR going green and making new rules (some of them seem to be made up on the fly), maybe they should issue each team a Chevy Volt and a battery charger.
