My copy arrived today, halle bloody lulja! 
Installed, patched, configured (realism at 90% with auto-mixture on) and QC flown. Went up in a DH2 with three wingmen vs four Albatrosses and shot down three of them, back home in time for kippers.
TiR working flawlessly. 25fps was the lowest seen (on the field), and that's with no tweaks. Sliders at 5 for everything except clouds (3) and terrain and scenery (4 each). AA at x4. 40fps the one time I looked (Fraps) while chasing the Albs at about 700 feet altitude.
The GUI is superlative.
As for the flying experience, words fail me. The videos just don't do it justice, as good as they are. The control of the plane was sublime. The scenery a work of art. A/C models likewise. Ambient noises excellent. Objects excellent. Clouds, lighting, superb.
The product of how many years of hard labour? I remember trying phase-1, wasn't madly impressed. I missed out on phase-2, probably because one had to send off for a disc. Phase-3, worth every penny from what I've seen so far. I seem to finally have a PC game worthy of the description once more.
