'Junior Frustrated With Daytona Rules'

Another first from me!
Up to a point I agree with Dale Minor.
Do away with the idiotic restrictor plates, use a rev-limiter if necessary but just get on with the really quick racing!
Bloody Muppet regulations.

I abhor the restrictor plate races. I understand that it is NASCAR's method of controlling the top speed of the cars in an effort to improve safety. I agree that rev limiters and now with fuel injection there must be a better way to throttle top speeds without killing part-throttle response time.
 
i find this aumusing....ive made no secret of the fact i dont like dale jr,,,,as a driver..i think as a person,and no ive never met him,but i read and watch interviews..and i believe he is a good person.that said...ive never believed he was a "top notch quality cup level driver" and hes proved it.....matt kenseth has done better...and im basing that comment on the dale jr/matt rivalry back in the busch seies days...Jr cleaned up there..in those cars..and he still does...but he gets in the cup cars ( and yes hes won) but hes not consistant enough..

my main comment to all this is that daytona and talledaga are his BEST tracks and allways have been....sure hes won on other tracks..but he doesnt dominate those races...its also been 299 races since he won...thats HUGE for who he is supposed to be...my dad swears he lost his nerve when he crashed the vette at sears point,,maybe it was the track at montery...not sure...but he was stuck in the car for longer than he should have been and got that burn on his neck...he hasnt won since...and hasnt been up front much since...he may win again...but ill be shocked if he ever wins a championship on his own...

one more thing.....i went to "racing win" facebook one day and they have posts there from jr diehard fans who believe jr will win up to 60% of all the races this season and ofcourse win the championship.....one woman posted if he doesnt she would....well not "go on".....she needs a life...

One *could* make the argument that Dale Sr. died in the same way that Wheldon did - that is that due to restrictor plate rules, Senior did not have the ability to mash the gas pedal and have the POWER TO DRIVE AWAY from the situation...
 
Yep sadly you are right P! I think you leave safety in the hands of the driver... in cases of OS ( Oh Sh1+) you want the car to respond to you ASAP.
 
From personal experience I'll just add that more power is never enough!
Ed has it 110% correct.
Way back in my FF1600 days we drove those little 140BHP+/- cars flat out, probably where I developed my taste for oversteer in spades.
If we got into trouble then we got into trouble.
Driving a Surtees TS15 with Cosworth BDA power was very different, delicate application of all controls was a must, but having around 300BHP on tap allowed one to use the throttle to balance the car.
More 'instant' grunt is much safer than not enough.
