NachtPiloten submitted a new resource:

Junkers Ju88 R Series Package - A package of 5 Junkers JU88 R series planes

Included in the package are 5 JU88 R series NJG planes from various units. The planes all have Steve's AI radar, AFN (landing path gauge), and radio altimeter. Obviously you need his package for all of this to work. There is an extensive help file (when in game use F1 to view as it has suggestions on trim, cruise, climb, takeoff, and landing along with AI operational information. All forward firing guns fire from one trigger and the Jazz Musik from another. The sound paths are set up to work...

Yes the C6 series was slow and the availablity of the BMW engines was an enhancement. I decided to keep the performance of these planes on the conservative side. There are many conflicting reports on what top speed was etc. But remember top speed usually was with a light load and in some cases without aerials. Usually the difference between a C6 day and night fighter was 30-40 kph depending on all the aerials and equipment used. This was no different for any of the night/day comparasons. Brown had a test with a G1 that did a corrected speed of 640 kph, but the pictures show it without aerials (I imgaine no ammo and light fuel too). I read biographies from other nightfigther pilots and the speed of these planes, even the G6 or G4 bf110s was not much more than 580 kph. Only the nitros equipped G1 and G6 did around 620 albeit for a short burst. Heck the Ju88 S1 with the BMW engines was around 595 kph and that plane was designed for speed. That is why the mossie was such a great plane and virtually immune form all efforts the Germans were able to muster, except of course the Me 262.

So the R series was an upgrade but a very short production run was made as these were seen a stop gaps between the C6 and G1.

Ah makes sense, thanks for that info.

Yeah performance testing numbers are tricky. Very hard to compare unless you have ALL the test parameters!

Superb models and paint jobs! I particularly like this R type. One small note, it looks like the the aerial array is textured, or is that correct?

yes on some planes the lower two aerials were painted to alert ground personal not to bump your head into them...Oh, yes the paint on this one was way cool

Ouch! I can image that would hurt a lot!

And a small tweak to the antenna would probably require recalibration.

There will be videos later with active AIradar app
