Just Flight VFR scenery

Hi all,
I've just re-installed fs2004 after a break and am now considering buying the Just Flight VFR scenery (South West UK & Wales) and have a few questions please!

Is it any good? :)
Does it come with an enhanced/better mesh?
Do the autogen tress, buildings etc. still appear?
Is there anything better available?

Thanks,
Pat :)

ps I did a search of the forum but couldn't face trawling through 18 pages of possible answers!

Hi Pat,

The UK-VFR scenery packs on the JustFlight site are photoscenery, and come with lots and lots and lots of textures (the full series is about 8Gb in total, 90% of which is the textures.)

If you like photoscenery it does look good, although some users don't like the colouration of the textures, and the huge number of textures means that its best suited to low-and-slow VFR flying, because fly too fast and you soon start to get "the blurries".

It does have some autogen, but not as much as the default, and it does come packages with mesh that is better than the default FS2004.

I used it for a few years, being a UK resident, coupled with the VisualFlight mesh, but have since replaced it with Ultimate Terrain - Europe.

A flavour of what it looks like can be seen in these screenshots. Compare the first three using UK-VFR with the two Hunters using UT-Europe and Ground Environment Pro.

Now, I have the VFR Scenery and the Visual Flight Terrain and find it very realistic indeed....once tweaked here and there and if you like to fly aircraft that cruise below 200kts.

As to autogen, there are lots of freeware packages available, thus making your flying environment that little bit more realistic.

The screenshots here are of my current setup.

The Ultimate Terrain does look good, but I suppose the VFR excels when you want to fly over your house or plan a navigational flight.

Hi all,
I have just re-installed all 4 scenery areas and VFR terrain.Looks great but I have one problem. All the bridges in london are missing. There no autogen or texture bridges. The river is bare.I know the default auto gen is switched off but also some of my own scenery is missing as well.just one other question.i realise the reason for turning off the autogen but is there a setting/tweak to turn it back on.

Hi,

I think there is a tweak that will turn them back on. They are turned off by default as in the sim, bridges are much bigger than they actually are in real life (much like the trees for that matter).
Drop someone in tech support a message (here) and they should be able to send you something to turn them back on.

Wouldn't fly without it -just can't abide flying in areas without photoscenery anymore.
