JustFlight Spitfire

It's actually not bad at all. I bought it as part of the BoB pack from Just Flight which also includes the Hurricane and the Me109E.
Their Hurricane is the best available today IMO. Clearly the Spitfire has been outclassed by the new offering from A2A. Still, until I can afford the A2A one, I am quite happy to fly the JF version when I want to go up in a Mk1. :d

I also use the JustFlight Spitfire- although unfortunately I do have a couple of issues with it that detract from my enjoyment.
The first is that it doesn't work as AI - it takes off, calls crosswind, but just keeps climbing straight ahead ad infinatum. But it was never meant as an AI aircraft, so it's allowed to not like being one!
The second, more serious, is that the simulation of the loss of power when rolling inverted is apparently achieved by just closing the throttle and holding it there - the engine never actually stalls out, which is what the carburetted Merlin did if you put it upside down, because there was no fuel reaching the cylinders. The ability to flick it upside down, hold it there, flick upright again and keep flying without the engine missing a beat does take away from the simulation of the type somewhat.
It's a good package, with a good range of models and paints, but it wouldn't get onto my "must have" list I'm afraid.

Service Pack
This service pack will make the following amendments to the Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary pack (boxed and download pack featuring all three aircraft only):
* A new airfile to make the Spitfire cut-out when flown upside down, and to lose control over 300mph.
* Hurricane now has two-stage flaps
* Me-109 cockpit text now fixed
* Door operation now easier
* Rudder reversal fixed
* Turn and slip indicators fixed

Prior to the service pack, Paul, the engine didn't cut out at all on the Spitfires, regardless of how long you flew them upside down. The current half-way house was part of the SP. However it doesn't cut out - it just throttles back... unless the SP has been changed since I downloaded it the day it was released.
It's just my opinion and findings, other people no doubt have their own, but it was one thing that was an absolute defining feature of the early model Spitfires and how they had to be flown/fought that I, personally, feel is extremely important in a commercial add-on of the aircraft.
As I said, just me, just my opinion. Others are clearly enjoying flying them.

No problem! I thought that you probably had it, but posted 'just in case'. I don't fly it very often. If I want to go up in a Spitfire, then I take the Realair MkIX most of the time.
Anyway, whichever way you look at it, we are very lucky to have such a selection of Spitfires for FSX to choose from.

Oh, most definitely yes.
I still use both the IX and the XIV too, but mainly the IX.
Right now, the tiny amount of flight time I have is being spent in the A2A Ia, because I threw some paint at it, but I won't be uninstalling either the JF BoB set or the RAS aircraft.
Anyone up to do some of the later, low back, Griffons?
