'K-Tel'

I don't know what's worse.. P posting this... or me admitting I have "Block Buster 20 Original Hits"

:kilroy:

Oh, yes, those were the days. LP was king, 8-track was popular, and there was the new medium known as "cassette tape".:applause:

The local record store owner (who I really respected his opinion on music), "Rocking Rudy", would have thrown me out of his store faster than the "Soup Nazi" on 'Seinfeld' if I had wanted to buy anything from K-Tel. :icon_lol:

However I do vividly remember the commercial for the second video, and could sit here and quote it word for word still, because they would run it ceaselessly on late night television on 2 of the 3 channels we had. The third was PBS. :mixedsmi:

An interesting side note, the voice over for the Block Buster 20 video was done by a local
Winnipeg DJ named Bob Washington who worked for CJOB radio for years. K-Tel's world
headquarters was in Winnipeg then and as far as I know it's still there. I remember Bob
remarking how he really thought he made it big when the SCTV guys started spoofing him
with their "Harvey K-Tel" skits...
