Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden Kai (George)

Unit: 343 Kokutai, 407th Hikoutai. Matsuyam Air Base Japan. March 1945
Pilot: Sgt. Kouji Ohnara

The N1K2-J Shiden Kai (Japanese for "Violet Lightning") was the best fighter used in significant numbers by the Japanese Navy during World War II. Known by the Allies as the "George," this maneuverable, heavily-armed fighter was a formidable opponent in the closing months of the war.

I just saw this Capt. I like a good rendition of the George.

Now to install 'er and see what you built for us.

Thank you as always!

What a wonderful treat! The only criticism I can find is that it came with the sounds aliased to the Zero. That just won't do. Nothing that a little copy-pasta from my other Georges can't solve though. ;)

Upon closer examination, I'd say that this rendition of the N1K2-J is the best that is available. The overall shape of the fuselage is very nice. I particularly appreciate the attention given to the chin air intake and the modeling of the vertical stabilizer. These elements were really weak on the Stock George, and this George is also an improvement on Akemi's Georges.

If I were greedy, I'd also appreciate a modern version of the N1K2-Ja, the late production run where the only visual difference is that the vertical stabilizer was reduced by 13% compared to the early production aircraft.
