Good to hear! Yes, looks like there is something off with the crawler - but you are saying that the "reboot of the sim" worked? Restart of the sim, or reboot of your computer? I am asking because a few other users seem to have exactly the same problem, and I am gathering all the info about a possible solution/fix. To be honest, I thought EVERYONE exits and re-enters the sim after downloading new content. If you go straight into using new content after downloading it, in the same session, I would not be surprised that some things may be "off". MSFS "mounts" content into its VFS during startup, so I am not sure how mounting happens during sim in mid-session.Impressive. I could not get the tracks to appear under the crawler without a reboot of the sim after downloading the update. The low resolution smoke effects look better to my eyes than the high res ones. Still... it's very cool to watch each launch from different angles and positions. Saturn V rocks!
I closed and restarted the sim with a new session. Marketplace allows you to download a product and open in the same session without having to exit. This time that apparently did not work. A simple enough fix to exit the session and launch it again.Good to hear! Yes, looks like there is something off with the crawler - but you are saying that the "reboot of the sim" worked? Also, crawler itself is nothing special in terms of complexity. The model is large, around 10Mb, but smaller than a few other objects (Shuttle launch tower, Shuttle rotating structure, SLS rocket, ...) so we don't know why it is presenting problems
Great - thanks for that tip. I will pass it on.I closed and restarted the sim with a new session. Marketplace allows you to download a product and open in the same session without having to exit. This time that apparently did not work. A simple enough fix to exit the session and launch it again.
Noted that once the support trucks and van's enter the road next to the crawler, they tend to overlap each other with no separation. I think you folks are taking MS flight sim to places its never been.Great - thanks for that tip. I will pass it on.
Something regarding VFX: The sprite spatial sorting has a bug, which has persisted for 19 years, ever since the release of old FSX in 2006. Namely, sprites are incorrectly sorted by distance, depending on how they are viewed. If viewed with the emitter location closer to the viewpoint than the sprite, they are sorted correctly. But if viewed with the emitter location farther than the sprite, the farther sprite is rendered in front of the closer sprite.
That is quite unfortunate because it leads to all kinds of weirdness when viewing the launch clouds, or the rocket trail, from different view points, especially if you move around it while viewing it.
Nothing we can do about that one. I posted it on MSFS defect forum, but got zero reaction or response.
Yes. Sometimes, they act up. Basically, when a vehicle is wheeled... it rolls no matter how flat we made the surface. There are no provisions for brakes on/off on simple land vehicles... That's why, at the start, we had to position them in a ditch, where they settle after a bit of rolling back and forth. However, sometimes, some vehicles tend to get out of the ditch and out of "alignment"... and then, depending on where they are starting when they are given a "go" command, they end up being at the same place as another vehicle.Noted that once the support trucks and van's enter the road next to the crawler, they tend to overlap each other with no separation. Couple of things of note in 2024. The crawler transport stops and tilts with the Saturn V just outside the VAB as it begins to move. Rocket exhaust trail annimation stops about 15 seconds after liftoff. Launch rocket motor audio intermittnent with the Saturn V and Artimus. Sometimes no audio at all. Space Shuttle seems ok. I tried a delete and reinstall through the marketplace, then closed and started another session of 2024 without a fix.Kennedy Space Center Scenery Pack V2 (featuring rocket launches) is now available on 2024 Marketplace.
However, please note that MS didn't update marketplace data, which still shows V1 content. We have alerted them to this defect and hopefully they correct it promptly.
This is something I haven't been able to reproduce, but I did see a few users mention it. My best guess is, there is another add-on scenery that is mounted after ours, and is interfering with the "flatness". Is it only Saturn V that is affected?Couple of things of note in 2024. Yes, we noticed the same on our end, and from several other users. This title was developed for MSFS2020, and ported by Microsoft to MSFS2024. Obviously, the porting process (which is out of our hands) is not without its problems. In our tests, the sound in 2024 is audible only when close to the object that emits it, and cuts out when moved further away. Same goes with the visual effects, which seem to cut out after a certain number of particles is reached. This was not observed in 2020, so our best guess is, MSFS2024 is tough on the resource/memory requirements. Both MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 are working with the same SDK, there are no differences between the two platforms in the development of these effects (sound and VFX).Rocket exhaust trail annimation stops about 15 seconds after liftoff.
