Thanks for the HU :ernae:
Has anybody tested it yet ? I'd like to know if this version has a usable virtual cockpit, or if the user is still forced to use the 2D panels for the engineer panel like in the other Constellations for FS9...

The main vc panel bits are operational, but the Engineer panel to the back right of the vc are still for effect only -- ya still have to click on the icons to bring up the interactive FE controls.

Hi, your download link seems to not work..Could you please check it?
Thanks,
Sid

Not sure what caused that. I just copied it from the Flightsim page -- first time I actually copied the entire offering. But it is over at flightsim's new fs2004 offerings (2nd page) in any event.

Thanks for the heads-up! Still the best series of Connies available for any flightsim!

Bad news :/
But thanks a lot for the information, you just helped me avoiding a useless download (my internet connection is still very slow).

Thanks for the heads-up, Racarton. The base file includes two PAA paints -- Clipper Yankee Ranger and Clipper Winged Arrow. I flew on Yankee Ranger in the summer of '48, from KLGA to TJIG. It was my first ride on a Connie, my first night flight and my first airborne sunrise.

Remember when airlines placed picture postcards in the seat pocket? Winged Arrow was PAA's posterchild for Connies. It is shown in glorious color sporting its then-new white-top livery against a deep-blue sky and gorgeous CBs.

I'm off to re-create my flight of 63 years ago! :salute:

Been messing with the lights a bit.

Since fuel dump doesn't work with fs2004, I substituted the effect with smoking radials

[SMOKESYSTEM] //Must use Fuel Dump levers in VC overhead to activate
//-------- Long ---- Ver ---- Lat -----------
smoke.0= 10.562, 0.000, -30.417, fx_Bob_smoke_B52_0
smoke.1= 12.858, -1.969, -14.701, fx_Bob_smoke_B52_0
smoke.2= 12.858, -1.969, 14.701, fx_Bob_smoke_B52_0
smoke.3= 10.562, 0.000, 30.417, fx_Bob_smoke_B52_0

//smoke.0 = 0.00, -22.00, 7.750, fx_749_fueldumpinbrd
//smoke.1 = 0.00, -22.00, -7.750, fx_749_fueldumpinbrd

Panel.cfg Entries:

[Vcockpit01]
..
..
gauge50=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear, 1,1,1,1
gauge51=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1

---------------------------------------------------------

I also stuck in Gary Jones' P&W R-2800 4 Engine sounds. While not technically the correct radial, I sure do love the result.

I'm certainly enjoying it too...!

Just one question: Where can I deactivate the engine failures I'm experiencing?
After ten minutes flying each engine shuts down one after the other (75% throttle).
It's not an FS issue because all failures are switched off, and doesn't happen with a replacement panel. I have looked through the original panel cfg, but can't find an entry relating to this...

Stuart,
Try this. After take off, bring your prop pitch back to about 73%. I use the "status" pop-up (right click checklist icon) to monitor the engines. if the numbers are white, ok. If yellow, take action. If red, prepare to ditch.

Thanks Hurricane91...:salute:
I never noticed that function!
Seems to work fine, no further failures.

Stuart --
It's in the Readme for the earlier Manfred Jahn Connies.

"Engine failure is likely to occur when the engines are operated at
2800+ RPM for longer periods of time (watch out for this especially
after take-off) or if Spark control = ADVANCE at 2400+ RPM. Depending
on altitude, engines may fail within three to five minutes. Use the
Prop pitch master lever or the Engine pitch simicon to adjust RPM as
required for the current flight situation (see checklist). On the
Status panel, the engine h.p. readout uses the following color codes:

white - OK, no danger of engine failure;

yellow - the current power setting will cause damage if left too long
in this configuration (even after throttling back or adjusting
RPM it will remain yellow until the internal engine failure
Counter is back to zero (may take a couple of minutes)

red - immediate action required – reduce throttle and prop pitch,
check spark control."

I believe I read about a way to disable the built-in failures, but I don't remember where.

Cheers guys,

that's what happens when you don't read the manuals!
I just hopped in, started the engines, and away I went!
There's no need for me to disable the engine failure settings, now that I know what I did wrong.
This is a great plane and great fun!

Happy flying...

Stuart

The Jahn series Connies are some of my favorites for FS. Volker and his crew did a great job working up the 049.:applause:
