• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

The Andes Mountain range in one if not the longest mountain ranges of the planet. From Venezuela it goes all the way down to Chile, with the Aconcagua peak in Argentina as the tallest one of the range, reaching over 22,000 feet......... You are going to be invited to go out and risk your Ciber bones in four old very small and out of the way airfields. There are many of these throughout the range and this first part of " Dangerous Airfields of the Andes" brings you that opportunity. The most dangerous of the four is the "Garganta del Diablo" or the "Devils throat ". The airfield is now banned and people say that during WW2 there existed a Monastery where with a special Allied contract, the monks made some "toxic Gas" which was a total secret. Suddenly in 1947 there was a huge explosion and the monastery was totally destroyed, leaving only a "Devil Stone Face" looking out to the airfield. The government closed it and banned all flight to it. Yes!!!! you´ll secretly fly out there, obviously at your own risk and pleasure. If you think the famous or infamous Lukla is a challenge after this airfield and the other three you will see that Lukla is really a Teddy Bear!!!!!....no pictures of the airfields have been allowed in order for the pilot to have a nasty surprise..that is if you fly out to them.....
