Lago Fiat G91 start-up

Just taken dilivery of this and it looks great but is there a way to shortcut the start-up, it has an involved start-up that needs the manuel and im lazy and just want to fly :jump:
i had a look in the panel cfg, looking for a fix simillar to the one someone came up with for
Jan Moravec's Mig 21, but nothing i did work'd.
anyone else have this model, cheers ian

Ian,

I've got it but it's not installed right now and it's been a good while, so I don't quite remember. I do remember that you have to fly it with care and attention. Too much heavy throttle and the engine dies, etc. I don't remember start-up being too complicated.

I'm working on rebuilding at the moment, so many planes to get back in, not enough time.

Ian --

I don't have the G91, but I believe the fix for the MiG-21 was to simply comment out a gauge in the panel.cfg. The start-up complexity in most cases is controlled by a gauge, usually in the VCockpit section. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of that gauge, but I have seen others labeled as such things as "engine_controller.gau". anything that doesn't look like it belongs on the panel, namewise such as ADI, HSI, Fuel... etc. I know it's vaigue, but I have found alot of solutions to different models that I have, to simply just jump in and go... I have commented out the control gauge in the panel.cfg. You can experiment with a few of them... and then remove the slashes if it doesn't give you the desired effect.

Thanks BB, i was thinking along the same lines, ive had a go with one but no dice but i'll try a bit of detective work, i feel abit guilty, the original designer's put a lot of work into the procedures and it feels a little disrespectful, im a bit lazy and i just like to go flying.
cheers ian

Wow, I remember getting that airplane "gifted" to me by Mathijs Kok who headed up Lago at the time and who is now with Aerosoft. It was one I really liked and so I was tickled to have it. I spent probably a week messing with it, never got the start procedure down exactly and was constantly having to refresh the aircraft after it caught fire or the engine stalled or any number of other "self inflicted" problems. I finally deleted it and never missed it after that, lol. Good Luck!!:salute:

Quicker start with screenies.

Think you'll find the startup is coded along with other gauges so you can't shortcut it; however;
here's a slightly quicker way to do it, you need to be in 2d panel view

1) Start flight using default Cessna; switch all avionics etc on
2) Swap plane to the G91, the engine will quit after a few moments :isadizzy: so....wait until it does then--->

3) In 2d panel, open the throttle window and select fuel lever to open (fuly forward); then close throttle panel
next, open starter panel, switch on ignition and fuel boost pump, select fuel system to normal (light out),
then open cover over starter button, press starter once.

You should hear 'bang' as starter fires, then engine will startup, spool-up is quite long so wait.

4) Switch 'on' elevator servo hydraulics, check gauge, switch 'on' 2nd inverter, check light out, and fuel transfer, light on, check gauge.

5) for T/O select one notch of flaps, plenty of 'up' trim; set engine at 90% rpm (it will quit if held above for a long time), get airborne @ 110kts, then put gear and flaps up toute-suite or they will break too.

All in all its a bit like the Section F8 Sabre in its handling. Have fun

Edit:

hmm somehow screenies didn't end up where I wanted them, another forum bug I guess, but they are named in sequence 1 thru 5
hope this helps

Where is the basic download package, or homepage for this aircraft? I've gone to LagoSim.com but there's nothing I can see that says "this is the G91 download."

I've got the Section F8 -86 and was wondering whether this Fiat would be a good stablemate for it, since their capabilities seem to be about the same, as well as their operation.

Its an old package and quite hard to find not being not commercially available any more, but have a look through this thread to piont you in the right direction.

Hi all,

wasn't there a two seater version of the GINA available some while ago? Does anyone know if that is still around?

Thanks!
Xander

This Lago has a 2 seater version the FIAT G91T as standard. German, Italian, Portugese and curiously US Army. Flying this piqued my interest in the Lago Tornado from way back when and that flies really nice too in FSX. It had been languishing on my storage HD for easily 9 years without use. The VC is a bit primitive but works well enough.
It just goes to show that well planned and designed aircraftcan go well beyond their intended sell by date.

Gents,
Reading this thread prompted me to have another go at sorting the start up out on this aircraft.
The amended cfg, on my system at least, allows the G91 to fly without going through the start up check list.
The attached zip contains 2 cfg files, (with the same gauge amendments but differing external views), a replacement gauge, (fsd_rf4.rpm.1.gau) and a readme.
All I have done is isolate the gauges and CFG entires that cause flame out and shut down and either replace or delete them. Full details are in the readme. Just drop the CFG of choice and the gauge into the panel folder overwriting the original. (Always back up your original!).
Hope it works for you.
Regards,
Alan

I seem to recall a photo of one or two G91s in U.S. Army markings, I think at Edwards. The idea behind having them, I believe, was for the Army to have some sort of CAS capability organic to its infantry brigades or divisions without having the necessity for going through the AF for this kind of support. It was similar to the position the Army recently put forth for having C-27Js in its inventory, so it could run tactical resupply efforts for its own units without having to go through the Air Force.

Those are really beautiful screen shots of this bird, which I am partial to. I'm wondering if it will ever be released again.
