With the permission of the Chief Designer at Plane-Design (Ed Walters) we present this OPERATION READY Dambuster Lancaster as a long overdue update to that of Release 5. This upload simplifies the Operational readiness of the aircraft and also introduces additional paints for AJJ and AJN by Koos van Menen of the Netherlands. This update for FS2004 is more stable and includes zordered windows to prevent accidental loss of the low flying tools. New saved flights are provided based on more accurate information on the route actually used by the Dambusters in 1943. Developed and flown in W7 64 bit the Lancaster has been tested in XP. The simmer is requested to download Release 5 (if not already available on his system) and replace the aircraft in that package with the one contained in this release. Just search "Dambuster" in FS2004. This release of aircraft is fully compatible with the contents of Release 5 so any of the flights in that package can be flown with this updated aircraft. New flights are provided for AJJ and AJN the crews of which breached the Moehne and Eder Dams in 1943. This is a full aircraft packaged by Ross McLennan and Koos van Menen. It includes a pdf Manual describing the use of the Operational features and the additional flights. This release is the 1st PRELUDE TO AN EXTENSIVE FSX PACKAGE FOR THE 70th ANNIVERSARY of the Raid on the Ruhr Dams to be uploaded in March 2013

I have version 5 and it took me a while to where I could like up the sight and bounce the "Upkeep" efficently, to knock out the target. These chaps flew their Lancs at night... at low level, and managed to get the job done. It took 7 months for pilots and bomb crews to train for these missions... Impressive.

I've never tried a night mission, Probably just as well. The latest update is primarily the plane, a few enhancements. A nice jesture on the part of Ed Walters and Plane Design to allow the use of their Dambuster Lancaster for this package.

FS2004 Tribute To The Dambusters Release 5. With the permission of the Chief Designer at Plane Design (Ed Walters) here is presented Operation Ready Dambuster Lancaster based on the model and Textures from Plane Designs original payware AJG released for FS2004 in 2005. Navigation and sim icon support have been added by using overlays and you can fly the aircraft with the original 2D and virtual cockpit or you can choose to make it a fully operational Dambuster Lancaster with an added 2D bomb aimer's view with bitmap supplied by Plane Design. Additional dash level altimeter and single Dann Bombsight fitted. The Operation Ready version allows you to fly a full mission from the virtual cockpit (recommended) without returning to the main 2D panel to make adjustments. It uses Keith Clifford's FS98 .air file modified to suit the Plane Design model and as previously, reflects Merlin 28 engines. This release supercedes and replaces the Release 4 Dambuster 65th Anniversary 2008 package (1000 hits). Only the applicable Plane Design gauges are provided. Gauges by Chuck Dome, Scott Macmillan, Jerry Beckwith, David Maltby, Bernard Drefahl and Jean-Pierre Langer are as uploaded with Release 4. Flights from Scampton EGXP use John Young's Scampton FS2004 scenery and end at Paderborn EDLP just north of the Eder Dam. Additional flights near the Grand Canyon, in Australia and New Zealand are provided. This operation ready aircraft is not suitable for use in FSX and has not been tested in Vista or W7. By Ross McLennan.

Release 6 is at the top of the page, Just search "Lancaster" at Flightsim... It has an improved model of the Plane Design Dambuster Lanc with better sounds, an improved 2D and VC and additional repaints. It also has some saved flights that are better representations of the actual routes flown by the real Dambusters. You need release 5 if you wish to use the enhanced Lancaster from release 6.
