Landing Lights

Is there a way to brighten the landing light so it can be used like a searchlight? I see the code in the aircraft.cfg, can anyone tell me what these mean? Can I change these to increase the effect?

[lights]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

light.1 = 1, 2.6, -0.73, -3.5, fx_beaconb
light.2 = 5, 6.10, 0.00, -2.10, fx_landing - ?
light.3 = 4, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, fx_vclighth
light.4 = 2, 7.89, -3.6, -4.65, fx_strobe
light.5 = 2, 7.89, 3.6, -4.65, fx_strobeh
light.6 = 1, -15.6, 0.38, 0.7, fx_beaconh

There is no way to brighten the lights via the aircraft.cfg. You must edit the .fx file itself.
Sorry!
If you want to use a landing light as a searchlight, I would recommend buying the Shockwave Lights Redux for FS9 - it includes some truly amazing effects, including some designed to be used in that manner as on a helicopter.

The code in the .cfg file just defines the position effect and grouping of the light.

The light.1 is self explanatory, its the lights title (must be a unique number)

The first number after the equals is the effect grouping, which light switch will switch which effects.

The next 3 numbers are the X,Y and Z co-ordinates of the light (can't remember which order) in relation of the reference point of the model/cfg.

The final piece of text is the effect that is used.

Yes there are one or two helos that have searchlights. I will see if I can find them. I think one is an Agusta and the other may be an AS 330 Puma but I suspect that feature is part of the Air file.

Aeromed202,

Let me know when you have a chance, I'm looking to do some night flying with searchlights. Thanks.
