Larger Japanese AA guns?

One thing CFS 2 was missing for a long time was large Japanese flak guns 75 MM is effective but not that effective on higher flying aircraft. The 127 MM DP from AF is decent but need larger, esp for future B-29 missions etc. Read Japanese had 140 MM AA guns etc.Possible to give some of the AF 140 MM etc artillery pieces a a DP and make them AA guns? Like the 127 DP?

Thought this 1944 article might provide some useful background info.

Several remarks about how inaccurate Hvy AA was, particularly above medium altitudes. They struggled with modern fire control systems that were useful at altitude (or against fast movers). So not as deadly as German (or Allied) systems.

Good info but really dosen't help with the AA guns used for B-29s

I turned the IJN 140 MM gun w shield from AF bunker pack into an AA gun by modifying the DP(based on the 127 DP). Adjusted it's range so can reach high flying targets.Just need to improve it's effectiveness, and lost on how to do that.

Did you try changing its rate of fire so that it shoots more rapidly?

Or, change its damage impact?

The 5.5 in cannon wasn't an antiaircraft cannon

They were used in light cruisers and were low angle cannons.

dasuto,

see my other post with a website link. that will explain the entries and what they do.

here it is again incase you missed it...

without using DPed, this will help explain it to you. once you know where to look you can then make your own changes.

If you need more info, look in the "how to" doc in the DPed folder. I have some other doc files that can help with your DP edits.

Dasuto, the 5.5 inchs was not an antiaircraft cannon. The more curious use of a naval cannon for antiaircraft use was an explosive 18 inchs shell used by Yamato class battleships! Obviously, it was useless. The naval cannons were effective weapons, but lacked a good control. Please, go to the Combined Fleet site, it is very enlightening!

Cheers
