I would like to attempt to make a engine sound for the Lancaster bomber. I know that it used the Spit engine and have already one in my sound files for a CFS2 Spit. All the ones that I have found for the Lancaster seem to be CFS1. These sound like :( BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ)

Here is my question, Is it possible to open the Sound.cfg ( for the Spit that I have) and, following other multiple engine plane sound configurations as a guideline , turn a single engine sound into a multiple engine sound?

Yes, it is very very very possible...I have taken a number of Lawdog's single engine sound packs and modified the config files to make twin, triple and even quad engine sound packs for use on various planes. Lawdog sent me a short tute on how to modify the sound config file that clearly explained how to do it. If Lawdog does not chime in on this topic in a few days, I will do my best to explain it in a manner that was as easy to understand as he did.

It's really quite easy...once you know what to do. Most of it is copy and pasting, and renumbering.

I'm not sure where I got the sound pack, but I have a Lanc sound pack with the 4 Merlins.

Fibber over at AvH CFS3 sounds they have a lancaster sound package. I think it should work for cfs2 lancasters.
 
CFS3 sound packs won't work with CFS2/FS unless you manually alter the sound.cfg headers:

[CFS3]
product_code=CFS3

Must be changed to:

[FLTSIM]
product_code=FSIM

I saw that package but as Bearcat beat me to it I believe that CFS3 items won't work in CFS2. Thanks for the pointer though.
 
Well, actually Fibber it's not like most other CFS3 categories that won't work at all. The sound.cfgs only need that slight touch of alteration i mentioned above and then they're fine for CFS2. As a matter of fact i have already copied all of my main CFS3 sound folder to my CFS2 sound folder in order to use the additional supplemental sounds likw wind, flaps, gear, crash and such that you find in the lower portions of the CFS3 sound.cfg's after the main engine sounds. They're all just regular windows wave sounds just like in CFS2, so you just change the header and its a done.

Okay, but keep in mind that I run on limited brain cells here, what do we change in "the header". Do you have a short "tut", or can you point me in the direction of one, that I can read and reference?:ernae:
