Leigh Light in Testing

The Leigh Light for Teds B-24 is out for testing to tweak the effects. The Light is pilot controlled and not set up by speed.

There will also be a new U-Boat that features a more subdued wake that does not glow at night. Also the Sub has a new gun with no tracers only a small gun barrel flash. You will need flares or a leigh Light to find it.:)

These photos were taken of our leigh Light equipped B-25H test mule.

We have also perfected a pilot controlled night fighter spot light for night interception of bombers. I believe there is an Italian Fighter out there somewhere that we can retrofit with the light.

steve thats fantastic i see it has a beam also.will this be able to be retrofited to the dambuster lanc? by chance does the terminal point show on other surfaces than the textured ones? did you link it to the interior light switch?

SS,

The B-24 is being constructed to incorporate the leigh Light. The Leigh light under the wing is a fixed forward firing gun that looks like a light. The eto_leigh_light_gun has a special muzzle blast that generates the light beam, reflected light and the bright orb that is in the light housing. The light is activated by the pilot controlled trigger. As you know the B-24 does not have any pilot controlled guns so when the trigger is pulled the light comes on.

The light will stay on for six minutes and will self extinguish after that time. The range is very good on the light.

The advantage of this setup is that the light does not come on at any time unless the pilot/player activates it unlike speed managed track effects.

The dam buster aircraft will have two MG postions at the precise location and angle. These two guns will have a modified beam that will appear as a spot rather than the beam you see here. These spots will merge at the correct altitude.

Steve, this never ends for you, does it? :applause:

Congratulations on all your efforts in CFS3, as this is quite exciting
and may require a special mp mission written for it! :)

What an amazing bunch of talented people around here.

Looks like the work's all been done! Greaqt stuff! For years we thought this was impossible. Respect!

For the Turbinlite, the problem is of course that we don't have the source for the Boston - or I'd already have been badgering our GMAX wizards with it for ages!

Unlike like all previous attempts with light effects, did you guys figure out how to get the beam to illuminate land and water surfaces?

Good Morning Lewis, no terrain cannot be illuminated in CFS 3 but...... there are a couple of work arounds that I have tested.

The best results are had by using a "shockwave" which will show up on land and water or to use the particle light beam as in the Leigh Light. The Leight Light beam can be tweaked to make it any size or shape you want even turning it in to spots, these spots can be set any distance from the aircraft and at any angle.

The biggest problem we have always had in CFS3 is that before this B-24 we have never had an aircraft built to incorporate a weapon system. There are even more things possible but the aircraft have to be built with the weapon in mind during the construction process.

In real life aircraft weapons systems are part of the aircraft from design forward, this has never happened in CFS3 until Ted started work on the B-24.:salute:

Ted is the man , and is taking CFS 3 aircraft to the next level.

Gun Boats armed with spot lights that track ships, vehicles and facilities. They will also have guns with tracers that shoot at the named targets..

There was a long thread pre-crash on developing a set of Dambuster lights. Seems you've cracked it, well done!! :medals: :medals: :medals:

Owen, I just sent the Gunboat pack to you and Nonato. The gunboat is armed with a spotlight and two 50cal guns with incendiary and armor piercing rounds. The new gunboat will shoot at ships, vehicles and any facilities. The E Boat I included has new effects also.

Watch at the end of the test mission as the three gunboats sail away, they all sight in on the ammo dump and blow it all to heck.

These guys really take car of business on coastal raids at night.
