Library update and a request...

Good afternoon,

I appreciate all of the support and the uploads to this point. The gratitude that has been shown for this project is also deeply appreciated.

To that end, I wanted to pass along an important message and make a request of some users.

The message is that the Tango Romeo B-25s uploaded under Pen32Win's name (including the drop tank) have been removed per the creator's request.

His files are still readily available at Simviation.

In addition, a few members have noticed that some of the downloads (in particular the skins section) have very little information, and are ambiguous as to what aircraft they are for.

I have tried to go through and correct these, at least by indicating what aircraft they are for, but the library has grown too large for me to spend endless hours fixing every single one.

Now, this applies to probably only about 5-10% of all the uploads, but I would appreciate it over time if some of you could go through and check for these.

Please compile a list of the downloads that need more description and we'll take care of the rest.

Thanks,

Upload Info

Upload info that should accompany the description of the file should at least include:

1. What the uploaded file is: Airplane, skin, scenery, airfield, library object, etc.

2. Name of original author

3. Name of the aircraft (Manufacturer, model, sub model and author) that the skin, panel or flight model is for with its zip name or link. A reference to just an Me 109 can lead to at least 40 versions of that aircraft for CFS 2.

4. If possible, also include a screen shot about 300 pixels in width

When all the above or at least 3 of 4 are included it will be easier to use or catalog the file and not have it languish in the library unused due to lack of identification. Please remember that what is clear to the uploader will be a total mystery to someone else without the above info.

This is not to disparage anyone, but to help the overal effectiveness of the restoration program.

Many thanks to all of you who have helped and uploaded all the missing files so far!:jump:

Jagdflieger,
I'd just like to make the point that your message here should be directed at EVERYONE who uploads to the library, and not just at the restoration project. When I was uploading files as part of that project, there was nothing more frustrating than opening a file and finding no "readme", no screenshot - nothing but the texture files or what-have-you. In some cases, I had no option but to upload the file without even knowing who the original author was,
Ro
