Just uploaded a pair of "what if" repaints for Milton's FSX native Beech D18S with custom bump maps and specular textures.

Santa Fe Skyway freighter

NOTAM: These are for Milton's recent FSX Native release and won't work on the Dave Carroll version because of different texture mapping.

As usual Willy looking good,:applause: to bad the Santa Fe didn't fly in the South Pacific. hehe.

Thanks guys! I was kind of surprised that Milton's FSX native Twin Beech hasn't gotten much attention from the painters.

Probably because there are numerous paints for the FS9 version already.

The Santa Fe paint made me look up some context and lo and behold, the only usable bit of information about the operation is from you in a fairly old thread. ;)

Santa Fe was in the air freight business for about 18 months post WW2 until the CAB shut them down as the other air freight companies were claiming that a railroad getting into the air freight business was unfair competition. During that short time, they quickly became one of the top 5 air freight companies in the country so there might have been something with that claim. They flew DC-3s and DC-4s in their short time in business.

Ah Willy, a home run with those paints! Thank you Sir! :applause:

That means a lot coming from you. And you created an excellent canvas for me to work on.

I'm not done yet though. I've been doing the Beech paints on and off for a while now. Work on one, then go to another. These were the ones that I had close to being done with. I've got an Alaska one about 3/4 done and a few more that are special requests that are not far behind that one.

Great - a big thanks for these paints and the next to come :applause:

Willy,
Thank you for these repaints! It is always a pleasure to see new liveries coming for this very pretty aircraft, for which I already have a fair pile of .bmp texture sets.
Your three latest releases are just damned good looking into P3Dv4!
Feel free to release as much D18 liveries as you like! :encouragement:
Blue skies

Side question: I noticed we never see anything about the Beech made by FlySimWare. Is it really that bad ?
I know Milton's one is very good an I still use it today. But what about its payware counterpart ?

I've never tried the one by FlySimWare. I just have problems justifying a payware purchase when there's already an excellent freeware version even if it's a port over. I would imagine that it's quite good, but Milton's Twin Beech has been my go to aircraft for years and now that it's FSX native is just icing on the cake.

I was digging into the in progress paint folders last night and found a couple more that can be finished up in the next few days.

Somehow you confirm the FlySimWare is not attractive enough to leave Milton's Beech, and that's all I needed to know :)
Thanks for that.

I'm not saying that it isn't a decent FS aircraft, just that if there's an acceptable freeware aircraft, I'll go for it first rather than the payware version. Also, like Bjoern said, it's outfitted more modern and I like the old stuff. Just give me an ADF and I'm good to go.

Pimpin' my ride a bit. Just put new shoes on it.
