lifting objects and vehicles question

Howdy Dog1;

How high an object sits off the ground is built into the MDL/BGL. I did see some objects designed to be used on piers that sat up off the ground. "WS" comes to mind, which is Wolfi. Check out all of his D/L's here.

his second set of barrels is supposed to be 2mt high but they still dont appear above piers.The problem is also with vehicles in general,i cant place them where i wish.

Hi dog1.

I believe the GSL forces all objects to ground level... in this case, the ocean level below the pier.

I'll see what can be done. In newer versions of FS, we have platforms, but not an option here. We also could use generic buildings with zero height, and place them at the desired elevation. Perhaps runways can assign elevation... so the pier can have an invisible runway. Area16n is too clumbsy and will raise the water level.

From one pc if you are developing many sceneries for one sim using the same batch of material available the problem then gets more complicated eg same item to be used at different heights management.If this can be "freed" and therefore the item identifies that it is on a hard base and adjusts automatically the problem is solved, right now i am going to experiment with
multiple files adendum style folder and CFG-1-2-3-and so on until maybe you can come up with something.There is a lot i can do with the objects a vailable but right now this is my single biggest hurdle,

Then comes the management problem of skins for the player,if he decides that day to fly out of say port moresby and go to henderson he will land and see the same skins of say a B24 if there is one.


The big player management problem i am facing right now is how do you tell a player each time he installs or decides to install all the sceneries to overhaul the whole default scenery which is my objective to remove each time Personnel files so as not to reach the 100 aircraft limit? its not practicle, players rightly want to fire up their sim and play.Obviously i am not going to just place"standardisation" 3 standard personnel at sea level for all the sceneries and neglect carriers and higher level bases.
