Live FSX Warbird Airshow anybody....

Hey guys I was just wondering. Our sim team along with the help of a gentlemen by the name Martin "Foxy" from the FSX Thunderbirds have figured out how to broadcast a live FSX Airshow via a livestream. Our main goal is to broadcast maybe 2 live demonstrations a month at different airfields and for different sim based groups. We are already locked in for 2 of BVATC's events this year and have set a tentative schedule.

My question to you guys would be would anybody from here care to perform in a War birds type of weekend Airshow that we would broadcast live? We would provide everything needed for the livestream. Think this could be a great experience for all the simmers out there.

Formation flying seems to be catching on in FSX now with a few demonstration teams popping up and going full force. There is us, the FSX Blue Angels, FSX Thunderbirds, FSX Red Bulls, FSX Blue Eagles, the Blue Eagles are a real joy to watch with their 2 Bi-planes.

I would really like to see more teams like:
1- Red Arrows
2- Snowbirds
3- Geico Skytypers they use the T-6 Texan . Now that would be really cool if a group can figure that out. Imagine in FSX being able to type in the skys lol. Things you can do. <!-- m -->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrPJTe5zBbE<!-- m -->
4- Red Baron Stearman Squadron- <!-- m -->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu2hBs2Zcc4<!-- m --> show vid <!-- m -->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1DCcbkvJSQ<!-- m -->
5- Aeroshell Aerobatic Team- <!-- m -->http://www.naat.net/
6- The Horsemen

So many possibilities out there and would really bring the FS community together. If you have a new plane your coming out with and want to promote it you have this platform. Please keep in mind this is not a post to get website hits or hopes of making money. We are all about Not for profit and doing good for others. At the same time paying tribute to those who have served in the military all over the world to fight for the freedoms their countries now have and to those who didn't come home.

I know their are a lot of vets on here. Let me know what you guys think or leave some suggestions.

sounds a great idea Shylock, are there any limitations on Aircraft Type? apart from FSX native of course?

Are you looking for just classic propeller aircraft, or trying to do like a real show and have a mix of smaller GA aircraft all the way up to military types? This sounds like a really good idea. Do it using FRAPS, or are you talking live as in online flying?

Yes live as in Live stream. There are no limitations. The only thing needed would be to have the person doing the filming have the aircraft being used. The idea would be to have everything and anything going on. It would be a private direct connect multi player server we would set up so this way there's no lag or interference for the flier. Would have a schedule set up of routines for the day. Whats great is if you don't have FSX you can still see the flying and what FSX and developers have to offer via the live stream. You can have music and narration as well for the flight demo.

For example Smoothie you have a F-16 coming out and want to show it off before the release of it. Well you give a visual model or BETA version to the person doing the camera work and you strut your stuff for the world to see.

The goal is to give the viewer the feel of being at a real Airshow. The folks that fly the combat sim Lomac have their yearly VFAT that they live stream. However with this event we can do will not cost a dime to anybody and have great quality. The big plus coming out of it is a great platform for developers to promote their new up coming releases wether its planes or even scenery.

Any type of act would be welcomed as long as it is done realistic. Not just some 13 year old flying around in a hornet at Mach 2 with smoke on. Learn the real flight capabilities of the real plane and come up wit ha demo. Some of the sim teams plans are to do monthly shows of the full demonstrations of the Navy and USAF demo teams. But in between I would really love to see other sim groups such as our forums here put something together.

We can have a WWII Weekend. Then maybe even a civilian aircraft weekend, Vietnam etc. We can do anything. The old saying goes "The Sky's the limit"

Whats great for us is that with the limitations of other combat sims being able to do different shows, we can do a show anywhere in the world in any type of aircraft. I had been thinking of this for a long time now but wanted to wait until we figured out the live streaming to put the idea out there. And when I had seen a member from here trying to get together a grand flight of P-51's, I figured now is the time.

That sounds like something I would be interested in possibly. Most likely I would do a demo with the P-51 or F-4U Corsair.

I'd happily be part of a warbird team!!! :ernae:

The Aeroshell T-6's are my favorite planes on earth. The modified Alphasim racer version would make a perfect T-6 for a display team. In fact there was a great Aeroshell paint released for it.

In fact, would anyone here be interested in trying out a T-6 team?

I'd definitely get in on this. Used to co-organise such events over at Simviation, but I felt that a lot of people didn't really follow many of the rules we set in place, so it sort of detracted from the realistic atmosphere - things like sticking to the display lines we set. Planes don't fly above the crowd, inverted, at 50ft, in real airshows! So long as people did try to keep it as realistic as possible, by rehearsing the display and following all the rules put in place, then I think you could be onto a winner.

I'd be up for displaying anything, really. The P-51 and Spitfire would be high up on my list, seeing as I get most of my warbird stick time out of those two, but I'm open to anything that I have in my hangar.

Right now, I would not want to commit to anything such as a demostration team, BUT (Prowler, are you reading this??)........I bet RAZBAM could use an opportunity like a live, streaming airshow, to "showcase" one or more of their "soon to be released" aircraft for FSX.

The only question I have in that regard, is (unless I am mistaken) for an aircraft to show up on your screen, you have to it installed in your FSX, right?

sounds like a good excuse to get practicing my old extra display in the Zlin :icon_lol: unless i get my extra back out.... tough call.....:icon_lol: me to the airfield >> :running:

The only person who would need the same aircraft as you would be the one filming. Nobody else would be in the session and everybody would tune into the live stream. I like everybody throwing out ideas here keep them coming. Once we get it figured out we'll set a date.

I'm really liking these ideas for the community flights and events lately. The P-51 historical flight, this airshow. Keep em coming guys!

heres an idea.... pre-show have everyone parked up and the cameraman take a walk (as observer should work) to show the diverse selection (fingers crossed) of aircraft involved... that and custom scenery (ad hoarding etc...) that can be easilly placed using EZ-Scenery/Instant Scenery etc... we'll need something to mark show centre as thats a key reference point along with the crowdline....

Shylock if you want some ad hoarding let me know would only take a day to make a generic A-frame sign and building mounted sign....

Smoothie the idea of the opening shot is a great idea. But...theres always a but, here are some of the problems you would run into. You will need everybody that is performing be in the session at one time. What this does is will cause a great amount of lag. Trust me our team had tried doing 2 live full on demonstrations in public sessions. 1ST was for the folks over at BVATC and they had over 75 members parked at the airfield and plus another 25-30 plus contollers. And boy that gave our team 2-3 FPS which made it impossible to fly. 2nd demo was for the people over at the Fleet and that was the same thing.

So this livestreaming is what we have come up with to be able to do a live demo and be able to broadcast to a larger group of people and be able to have only the 10 members of the team in the session. o if you would like to have the show open like that it is not a problem. We would just need to make sure we get all the aircraft invovled and send them to my movie guy. From there we can have a opening video that is top notch and very tasteful. Heres a video of his work for the winter practice video he put together http://www.fsxblueangels.com/videoscreen elcentro practice.html

What did you mean by add Hoarding? I for one would like to stay away from any type advertising or anything that might seem as tho somebody stands to make a profit off of it. Unless its you as a developer that stands to make a profit off of your hard work and its your plane your demonstrating. Then thats fine. Sometimes you would leave a door open for people not doing anything with the show other then slapping their name on it. But keep in mind the more things you add into a scenery the more chances of there being lag for some of the fliers. Lag is a formation teams worste enemy.

As for a show center dont worry about that. Our team uses a tractor trailer for the show center marker. I had even went ahead and built a yellow trailer for use as one. I have also built Airshow type loud speakers that I have placed in our El Centro scenery that you can see here the pics of the trailer and the speakers http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=15303

I will like the ideas more if they can actually materialize into an event. Hopefully we will have good attendance at the P51 flight. I think we could get a good multiplayer community going.

by ad hoarding i mean like signs you see with things like 'Sim Outhouse' on and 'Online air display......(dots naming the airfield) etc...
