Interesting they'd go for a flying boat with the water handling still needing so much work.

Oh well. At least it's not another trimotor. :)

I'm surprised the release date is still on track given that we've seen no footage (still or video) of this addon. I had written down at some point that Oliver Moser was the dev behind this. Same dev behind the Ju-52. I'm not sure if I was correct in that note though.

Ok, but where is a pilot? :dizzy:

Notice its an official trailer, without pilot?

The problem with the animation on the propellers still exists as well. It's strange that no one sees this in Asobo.

If i were MS/Asobo and would release a floatplane i'd first take care of that abominable water/wake effect. If i would sell a floatplane along with this current sad looking water wake/spray effect i'd have no respect for myself. If they'd set their mind to it we could have a fantastic and spectacular looking floatplane water take-off and landing show. And not only as it looks from the outside but from the inside as well. We'd only be buying floatplanes for the time being. Oh well, not going to happen i suppose....

I do like the subject from a historical point of view but NO respectful water/wake/spray effect NO MS/Asobo floatplane. If we'd all stick to that maybe they'll get the picture someday.

Looks like the video is very much premature, no pilot because there's no (external) internal model yet, he'd fall right out of the cockpit. Funny to put up a video of an unfinished model...Doesn't forbode very well...

Microsoft Proudly Presents..... Yeah, right.. Get that water/wake/spray effect up to scratch !!! Then you can *Proudly Present* a floatplane !

:playful:

Oh, before i forget, the external and internal models do look awesome ! That much is true. :)

I agree with you Jan!
The new Goose has a bit of a wake, but it's far from perfect (the wake, I love the Goose), and this does not look much better. Would be great if they could do something about that.
Also, the subject is not that interesting (to me), there's a ton of other floatplanes that I would have been more interested in, this one I did not even know it existed...

Hey Jan Kees,

I love the Goose too but you know i don't feel the urge to buy it because of this ridiculous wake effect ( in the videos of the Goose i even see a deep sort of hole behind the stern of the aircraft..) Same goes for the still lacking engine smoke as well of course.

MS/Asobo Get Your Effects Act Together !!

Sure, i'd love to see the even bigger sisters of the Widgeon/Gosling and Goose coming to MSFS (once the wake effect shows some respect ! :) ), the Mallard and Albatross. But the Dornier would be really wonderful too to explore all these magnificent Bijan island sceneries that i bought recently. Island hopping used to be one of my favourite virtual flying jobs. For the time being, not anymore..

There's a lot about that Dornier that looks lovely, but I'd be ashamed to show it in that state as if it's ready for release. It's got so many bugs you could make a nature documentary on it.

What is going on with the wing struts at 0:57 mark in that trailer ?? There is enough good stuff in the third party pipeline to not even give this a second glance.

I got the impression that the video was a raw, unfinished model. The wake effects in World of Warships are amazing so it's entirely possible to do something great here. Lots more work for Asobo. Especially annoying is the light ring around textures at certain angles. One could conclude that MSFS is largely unfinshed. Doh!

Well it's out! First impressions: Mag switches don't work as they should, they're labelled as starters (if I'm right) water physics are awful, full nose-up elevator and it wouldn't unstick until 90 knots, then leapt out the water. Rudder bar moves the wrong way in the cockpit and it seems to be a bit overpowered compared with what I expected. Otherwise, brilliant :encouragement:. Something different for sure, and fun to potter around in.

And those prop disks? Other than the prop discs being too dark, this is a nice offering. Lots of detail below deck. For the purists out there, I'm certain there are some niggles. I'd like to see the pilot/co-pilot removed with power off. Maybe an anchor line. The N25 textures look pretty accurate against the museum model. Certain to be a screenshot Queen.

The model is pretty detailed inside and out. The props are nice, but the disk animation is just too dark. I don't understand Asobo's thinking. This is a problem across all of their models. It's an acceptable sim for toodling about, but as for flight model realism, I'd leave that to the experts.
