I was down at a conference this week in Galveston, TX. The Lonestar Aviation Museum has reopened with only a fraction of the aircraft it once had. According to the lady selling the tickets the only aircraft they are exhibiting are the ones which they were able to fly out before Hurricane Ike. That is maybe a dozen aircraft.
There were a lot of aircraft and pieces in the second hanger, which use to hold twenty or so aircraft. I have included a picture of that section. It was roped off to viewers.
I saw no sign of the Spitfire or Hurricane. Since they were right by the hanger door, it was possible they were totally destroyed? What a tragic lost.
