...in Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai, actor Toshiro Mifune served as a photo aircrewman in a recon squadron of the Imperial Army in WWII. These are screenshots I grabbed from a Mifune tribute video on YouTube. Good shots of standard IJA flight gear. I believe that's a Ki-51 Sonia in the background of one photo, and he's standing next to (I think) a Ki-36 Ida.
 
its still intresting to see how much flying 'uniforms' differed between the different airforces :)

Interesting post, I've heard of the Ki-51 Sonia, but the Ki-36 is a new one for me.
Toshiro Mifune was also in Tora, Tora, Tora. great actor.
