These pictures were taken at Maastricht - Aachen airport (EHBK). I can see the field from where I work and I saw the E-4 come in.

What I know is that there is some kind of conference at a nearby castle/hotel with the secretaries of state and defense of all the countries with troops Afghanistan.
 
I remember, heck I will never forget..... It was September 11, 2001... I was walking to dinner by myself, i was in college at the time.... I was just thinking about how eerily calm it was in the sky that evening...not a cloud, not a contrail... and then one those flew over campus reaaaaaal low... with two F-16's on either wing swinging back and forth... A bunch of ignorant college girls started swearing at the plane because they thought it was Air Force One.... lol... I still run into people today that tell me, "Didn't you know that the President flew into Dayton on 9/11 on Air Force One?" I try to explain to them, but usually give up.... Some people you couldn't even convince them the sky was blue...

Saw Air Force 1 yesterday as it flew out of Green Bay. I was surprised not to hear any fighter cover. Heard nothing else before or after.
 
Ive seen Airforce One twice
once with an escort of F16's coming into Barksdale
on sept 11th
and another time flying into Shreve regional
to be refitted in the Nassa Hanger

That wasn't one of the "Air Force ___" 747s flying around Dayton that day (or South Dakota & Nebraska where the same or another was also spotted and thought to be the President's plane). It was one of the Air Force E-4B National Airborne Operations Center (NAOC) birds...which is what Panaka has a couple photos of in his post. If I remember right, the E-4Bs are based out of Offut in Nebraska. One or more of them would've been aloft along with fighter support on 9/11 as mobile command centers.

You'll notice the paint scheme on the E-4Bs are very similar but slightly different than the two presidential haulers...thus it would be easy to confuse the two variants.

And Airforce 1 doesn't have that hump, with the satelite dish in it, on it's back.

Nobody would believe me until I went online and showed them pictures of the two and the wiki article on the E-4B. After that they got it in their minds that it was Hilary Clinton's personal plane.

one time coming into barksdale
and what ever the call sign was
for Shreve regional
as there was no president aboard i guess he does
not check personally when his plane is being worked on
