Looking for a few good bugs

I'm looking for some people to help me find z order bugs that I may be able to use to my advantage in a project I'm experimenting with.

In basic terms, anything where one part or effect is made partially or completely invisible when it is covered by a transparent part or effect that comes between you and it. In other words, you should be able to see it, because whatever has come between you and it is transparent, but you can't and instead see the scenery and sky behind it. I have seen it happen before, and I'd take a picture to better show what I mean, but I haven't been able to replicate it, hence my request for help.

If anyone gets what I mean I'd appreciate it if you report it here (with pictures if possible) if you encounter something like it with as much detail as possible so I can find it and replicate it. If I find something I can use, track ir users will have a fun new feature to play with.:redfire:

Thanks!

Daniel

Other than in a few cockpits with AnKor's shadow mod, I've only seen it where the transparency is created by an alpha layer in the texture file. My Japanese L2D3 has it where I extended the cockpit windows of the original DC3 model. It doesn't happen from all viewing angles, so I'm not sure what conditions are required for it to show up. On the L2D3 you only seem to see it when the viewing angle is shallow relative to the normal direction of the poly, never then you're look straight on to it.

Intriguing!

I have noticed when playing around with runway / psp textures that if you get objects too close to each other the ‘top’ one will not display fully when you either get close or zoom in close. (the type of .dds also affects this, dxt1 is the most stable).

There are Z bias settings in the config but they don’t seem to make much difference as far as I have been able to tell. Have you altered these at all?
