Safn1949,

I have tried to reproduce your problem, but I cannot. I'm not sure what to tell you at this point. :isadizzy:

I'm sure I have it messed up, so far everything else is working fine. The FW-190 flies like a brick, just like I remember and my aim stinks. I will go ahead and try to reinstall the country file and work my way thru the rest of the campaign. I noticed that it will set a message that I am out of ammo and then boot me,I assume you did this on purpose?:jump:

Ok, I am out of practice so they are fairly safe at the moment,I like the hoard of B-24s that appears, not used to that many AI aircraft.I am running a 4 year old 1.7 celeron with 1 gig of ram and an integrated graphics chipset, getting good framerates of 20+ with all of those bombers, I have 2 much faster computers that would do even better,I have the scenery turned all the way up so framerates will not be an issue for most.

I was wondering if a campaign could be gathered up and packaged with all of the scenery, aircraft and add ons included in a series of zip files or hjsplit files. I moderate a forum where a lot of large files (1+ gig) are shared and that's how we do it. That way they download the campaign and they have everything in one download and we don't have to worry about dead links and missing files. Just a thought.

Thanks, Rami.

Here is the exact country file I am using, it is a little different, please take a look.

Safn1949,

I will look at the country.cfg file, but allow me to answer your other question. I will not be creating auto-installers for any campaign that I do. Allow me to explain why...

1) I am going through all my campaigns and fixing the dead links. All of the Eastern and Pacific campaigns on my site have been updated to eliminate dead links, and I am working my way through Europe as we speak, with the Mediterranean to follow.

2) In order to create auto-installers, I would have to get permission from the original author for every single file package. This poses problems for older models whose creators are not longer reachable, and the other consideration is size. The auto-installers (especially for a campaign like "Battle for Europe") would be excessively large, not too cool for those with slower bandwiths.

So by providing the link, I eliminate having to get permission because all I am doing is directing you where to find the file you need, it is you who are clicking the mouse. That's a load of work I just don't want, especially if I want to spend the majority of my time working on missions and campaigns, not writing and responding to unlimited e-mails. Also, bear in mind that many of our more experienced users DO NOT like auto-installers, because many of us have heavily-modified CFS2 setups.

Finally, bear in mind that I have a tendency to use the same "core" of aircraft, scenery packages, and other things (trees, vehicles, ships, etc) so that once you install one campaign, (especially one of the larger ones) you have, at least on balance, much of what you'd need for several other campaigns.

Just started.

Rami

Last night I had time to check and update the campaign. Not much to change. No warning "CFS2 couldn´t find...."

Started the german campaign in easy mode but with 100% realism for flying, gun power, fuel management, etc. In the first mission I lost my 3 wingmen after banging 2 spits (8 spits against 4 FW190). It looked to me as if some spits AI pilots were very experienced and other very silly. They got a pain in the neck not for turning continually the head sweeping the sky but for the bullets and cannons fired from six o´clock after a long pursue (more than 30 seconds). Unfortunately my PC lost track of something and shut down CFS2!

I should go to command and situation awareness training course.:bump:

I liked very much the challenge of flying close to the ground (with a Spit in my tail spitting fire) with sometimes 0 visibility with such a low ceiling, and the high and lows of the terrain with Rhumba´s LOD8 mesh.

It was really challenging, but who said it would be easy!! Thanks Rami.
I´m going to try the missions in wich safn1949 had problems.

Safn1949:

I concur with Rami about not packing all with an installer. Not only it would be too time consuming for a freeware package. It would ovewrite many of my personal arrangements.

Cheers, Discus

Discus,

From what I understand, CFS2 is meant to be flown in "medium" realism UNLESS you're in online play or using 1% aircraft. Otherwise, accelerated stalls are overdone.

I'm also not 100% thrilled with the Fw-190 in CFS2. Frankly, I know the airfiles aren't great, but when I have time I might work on them. It seems that's one aircraft that both CFS1 and CFS2 have trouble with replicating the flight model.

Bear in mind that the German campaign IS tougher than British one, because I took into account the limited resources the Germans had with regards to aircraft and especially fuel. The British forces did not have nearly the same limitations. As a result, you will often be outnumbered when facing the Allies, and as a British pilot, you will find that there are many less chances when German fighters will show up unexpectedly than when you're flying AS the Germans.

You'll need a little dash and daring, just like flying "Operation Barbarossa." And don't forget the Kenny Rogers motto from "The Gambler." :jump:

I didn't mean auto installers, just a folder with all of the addons at your fingertips. You would still have to install them all manually, the only difference would be you would go to one page and download one file with everything there.Just a thought. But I assume you would still have to get permission to host the files that way so I can see the problem.:jump:

Didn´t know about the high speed stall in high realism. Thanks for the tip.

About the german side difficulty: Your campaign degree of difficulty is, for me, what should be expected in the late years of WWII. Who said the german had it easy. And we are taking about war!

One should learn to play pick and go, decide the right moment to attack, and know when to run for home.

One thing I couldn´t do, that german aircrafts (maybe) could was to hide under the AA umbrella of an airfield. I will take a look at this.
