One of the hangars I'm working on. Bill (WND) and I are sprucing up what used to be Loring AFB. It won't look like the old Air Base it will just contain some hangars (default has none), some ground equipment and correct taxiways and parking areas. No time table for completion, just working on it when I feel like it.

Nice! Been to many places in Maine, growing up and all, but Loring airport (erstwhile AFB) isn't one of them!

Thanks Paul. . .that hangar, just as a way of perspective, will hangar six b-52's, lol. The size is deceiving without an airplane sitting there to judge by.

Nice! Many, MANY years ago I knew someone that had been a B-52 engine mech, stationed at Loring. 1972 timeframe, I think. NC

Fired up Google Earth to see what the place looks like today. Looks like a lot of buildings from the AFB days have been removed. The two big hangars you've posted pics of here are still there however. That would follow, I guess, since you're building Loring Intl, not AFB...

Reminds me of the Final Assembly Building at the Renton, Wa. Boeing plant. Two bays each held two production assembly lines. two 737 lines in the east bay, a 737 and a 757 line in the west bay. 737 lines had 8 positions, the 757 line only had 6. Worked there for some time back in the '90s.

Hi Falcon,

I'm really looking forward to both of these hangars. They are equally applicable during Loring's USAF era.
