I have had problems with CFS2 where Free Flight and Quick Combat would refuse to engage due to some lost file. Generally, it would appear to be a .ini or theater/location file(s).
To correct this, I did an re-install/repair. This brought no change. Free Flight refused to work, but the Single Missions accumulated from Abacus, First Class Sims or Just Flight remained accessible as did the aircraft. All expansion file material would launch.
Thinking I knew CFS2, I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. All other files, zipped and open, remained in the root directory. HOWEVER, when I rebooted CFS2: Free Flight still did not work. The imported airplanes no longer showed on the list AND while the Single Missions list remained INTACT, NONE of the missions would launch due to a absent MISSION FILE(!!!!??).
Thus I would appreciate help in understanding WHAT WENT WRONG, WHAT I DID WRONG...and how to repair the program so 1) the lost mission files are returned and 2) may be I can finally get Free Flight and Quick Combat to run and no longer crash.
A new re-installation is no longer recognizing its former root directory and contents. Help is needed to rebuild "This Old House"....
