Lost my IDA tonight

My Ida, english bull dog featured in my avtar passed today.
I will miss her forever, only 6 years old...she walked outside with me
I look back 35 seconds later, she is on the ground, stroke I guess?

Tears as I write this.

Guess the point is to "tell someone you love them tonight", before it is
too late.

I am so sorry for your loss...
We lost a beloved pet a year ago and I miss him everyday..

There is a poem called the Rainbow Bridge that might help sooth your pain:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Dave,

Very sorry for your loss. Just last Wednesday afternoon while sitting on the couch, my cat, Stubby, was giving himself a bath when he suddenly let out a growl-like sound and fell over. He was only 3 years old. Losing a furry family member always hurts.

Very kind regards,

Bill

Rick,
Thank you for the poem that all of us can use and " understand"

Bill, so sorry for your loss also........it does hurt very bad.

Ivan, thanks to you for being a friend, hello to Anna Honey and the kids.

Remember, call your mom, sister, brother... what ever...Dog, cat ect.
Tell someone you love them today, before it is to late.

Thanks again guys,

Dave

So sorry for your loss, even though some people will say 'it was only a dog', we all know a loved family member is gone. Rest assured IDA is still there in your hearts and forever will be, some trivial thing will trigger a memory and you will laugh. The life IDA shared with you imprinted the love you had, you didn't need to say 'I love you' because you said it with your actions after all words are words but actions speak louder.

My deepest condolences to both Dave and Bill on the losses of Ida and Stubby. As it was said, we don't have enough time with our animal companions when they live a normal life span. To lose both of them in such an untimely fashion is a terrible loss.

Our animal friends are very intuitive. They know when they are truly loved.

Take the time to grieve and remember all the special moments you two shared.

Best Regards,
Obie

Thank all of ya'll for your words and support.

Although we can never replace Ida, We added a new addition to our family yesterday.
Her name is Gracy...she is an eight week old English Bulldog, full of piss and vinegar.

This should keep my wifes mind off of Ida for several weeks to come, I do not do the
house breaking part of the deal.

IDA was lucky, and so were you.

Our dog, Shougaw, an English Springer Spaniel, went from a vibrant and alert representative of his breed to a blind, deaf and walk less mutt. That ordeal took two years, the last six months being hell for my wife an me, physically and emotionally.

We finally got the courage to bring him to the vet and end his misery this morning.

I just hope Gracy will have the same luck Ida had. Maybe a bit of a longer life, but English Bulldogs are known to be short-lived.

Shougaw was 15½ years old, 104 in "dog's year". His breed normally gets to 12-13, 14 tops. So he was on borrowed times.

You would think it make it easier to say good bye to an old friend; it does not.

Very sorry for your loss Hubba. I agree, quick is the best way.............having to put them down is like ripping your own heart out.
But I am sure it was best for all involved.

Be safe my friend,

Dave
