This was mentioned on the IL-2 forum:

sure don't look like wales.... clear water and no sheep :icon_lol: welcome back to the world missing P-38! 'Maid of Harlech'

I wish something like that would all of sudden surface in my garden. :)

Allegedly there's a WW2 era plane submerged in the lake behind a buddy's garden. No idea what type or nationality it could be though.

I'd rate east Germany a paradise for WW2 archeology since a lot of stuff got dumped in its lakes in the final days or beyond.

I want to find me a late 109 or Panther one day...:d

Especially the Müritz apparently offers anything from Do-24s over Lancasters to B-17s...

This is actually old news that the Daily Fail is obviously trying to make new again (must be a slow news day back home now that the elections are over).

IIRC I first saw pictures of this a couple of years ago. It periodically reappears whenever there is a particularly low tide or after a storm has moved the sand around to expose the wreck again. The usual wave/current action will then start to bury the aircraft in sand until the next storm re-exposes it.
