. . . .however, you should not need them again as the AFCADs included in this package are thoroughly researched and highly detailed. . .
I'm sure I'm probably the only one who has ever done this, but when you install these Military AI packages, make sure you read the part about "Installations Included in this package" and then HEED the warning about removing any duplicate AFCAD files and then storing them someplace else rather than deleting them (insert the quote from above here).

I did neither and now weeks and weeks of fine tuning a custom afcad for NAS Ft Worth is gone and that "thoroughly researched and highly detailed" AFCAD that was installed is so far off it isn't funny. The part about saving the original is my fault no doubt, but after placing a google image of KNFW under the MAIW AFCAD I can tell you it wasn't researched beyond making sure it "looked" like the base layout. What I did discover is if I squeezed the image in to distort it, things actually fit better.

Enough said. Be warned that if you have custom scenery that you've done for military bases around the US or overseas, save the AFCAD and exclude files somewhere safe then install the MAIW files and see what you think first. I downloaded a lot of these packages over the weekend and luckily, NAS Ft Worth is the only one I did anything custom to and I can remake it as all I have to do now is redo the AFCAD to match the "actual base layout and the scenery I've already placed (the entire base).

Lastly, MAIW is a great group. . .they do a great service to all of us with the time and effort they put into every package to include AFCADS, AI Traffic and even custom scenery in many cases and I appreciate that very much, I'm just saying don't go brain dead during the installation, before you do anything save any files that may be affected by these packages beforehand. In other words, "read before you install".

Falcon, I still have all the research material from when we did the original. I also have the afcad. I think I still have your email so look for the AFCAD in an email.

Hi Marv, just saw your PM and this thread and I've already redone the AFCAD (again). I finished it a few days ago and have been working on getting the scenery objects repositioned slightly to fit as they should. All I have to do now is redo the traffic file I made for it that I lost when I reinstalled FS9 a month ago (didn't realize it would delete EVERYTHING, lol).

OK, Glad you got it back. Gordon Perry did a scenery set. I sent him all the references you originally sent to me to build the AFCAD.

Yes I remember downloading Gordon's version. It was well done except that the aircraft shelters for the 301st F-16's were enclosed shelters rather than the open air type we actually have so I uninstalled it. I've redone NAS Ft Worth with the help of scenery objects from MAIW and in particular, their Luke AFB scenery which includes a lot of the correct buildings and shelters.
