I want to make a second install of FS9 just for testing out sceneries and such on a seperate Harddrive...

How can this be done? And how do I keep the Desktop FS9 exe. seperate?

Thanks..

Is this even possible?

Thanks for the link...

Is seems as its done just as the GWs was done....:wavey:

Yes its possible.

If you study the instructions on the 'Golden Wings' installation process, you can just put in your own name for the 'FS9 'variant' install' and that will get you what you need.

Just drag and drop the entire installation over though.

Note; It can take up to an hour for a inner system 'copy/paste' of FS.. But if you run the disc installation to that drive, then drag over your various folders (such as aircraft, gauges, effects) if you wanted them in it, then that would be faster.

Scenery and Aircraft are the big folders to deal with in migrations.

Note2; Changing the name of the config file, EXE file, are a couple of the things you do when having an 'alternate' variant FS9 install. You can find more on this at the 'Ole Hanger' website in the downloads section in the Golden Wings webpage. (Sorry, I dont have it bookmarked).

One can have several flavours of FS9 as long as you follow the GW3 formula and make sure to rename the 'new' folder and re-name your FS9.exe.
You will have hassles with certain add-ons that demand to install into the FS9 folder, the now re-named Shockwave and most Flight One installers are the main offenders, so backing up a copy of your original exe. and some name juggling are needed.
That said, I've managed a Golden Wings install, a Silver Wings install, my version of the 1950-1960s period, another for Bush flying and a pure FS9 installation devoted to VOZ.
VOZ gets very picky about 'original' textures etc so it goes into my 'FS9' section.
The very best way to begin is with a clean FS9 installation which causes the minimum hassle to copy into another re-named folder.
Take it one step at a time and it's very easy.
