making an Aircraft carrier come to life

Hello,I am wondering if anybody can give me some tips,or protocol on how to add AI to aircraft carriers. What are the steps used for a newbe such as Afcads,TTools, flattening file, hardning the deck, parking, and getting them to land with the arrestors, and take off with the catapults.I would really appreciate some help,or if there are any websites,or tutorials.I know there are alot of gurus on this so I thought I would ask. Thanks:jump:

First off you will need to make two afcads. One has your parking and runways etc. the second is the all important flatten file. FS doesn't like airports that float 60 odd feet above the water so it pulls up the surrounding water to meet it and it looks like the carrier has sunk. All you need to do is have a single apron route that runs down the length of the carrier extending out a few hundred feet either end. Now it's very important that this flatten file is at a higher priority in the scenery hierarchy to the normal afcad. I just keep all my flattens in one file and keep it at the top of the list. All you need to harden the deck is to draw an apron polygon in the afcad. In the sim go to top down view move the cross hairs to a corner of the deck switch to afcad and place a marker and keep going around the edge of the deck marking the outline then connect the dots with apron polygon. Now as for AI taking off and landing, I tried to get my AI to take off on one runway running along the catapults and land on a different runway running down the deck by closing one for landing and the other for takeoff to try and force them to use the correct runway but the AI just ignored it and landed on the same runway it took off from. So what you do is place a runway along the flight deck about a thousand feet long and one foot wide to make it invisible and don't forget the runway taxi link down the centre. For landing you will need an air file with special carrier fde to get it to stop properly. I'd suggest downloading Fernando Martinez's f-4b for big e and apply his mods to other aircraft but be warned if you send the AI to a shore base they will perform arrested landings on the runway that looks strange. As for the use of afcad and ttools themselves, get a spare hour sit down and have a thorough read of the manuals, then have a fiddle around with them to get used to them.

Thanks a million Clark123,that give's me the basic ideas to get started,if you get the time can you please put up a screen shot of the carrier deck apron you have drawn in Afcad,so I can have a look? so I get the basic design. I will also sit, and read the afcad, and Ttools manuals again this weekend.

Here's one I did of the John C. Stennis Nimitz Class:

Not quite as much parking, works pretty well.
