Since moving down to southwest Florida, it is especially nice this time of year because the mangos are in season. There's a mango tree in my front yard, and every day I am picking them up.
My dad, many years ago, would often peel/eat a mango as a late evening snack. I'd never tasted one until he offered me a slice. I couldn't compare it to any other fruit; it was wonderful! During WW2 my dad was on Aruba with the US Army. He told me stories of spending a lot of time at the beach, enjoying mangos. So I think of dad every time I eat one now....NC
