Manistee County Blacker Airport

I remembered that I forgot (is that an antithesis?) to post this after I had tested and completed it back in June of 2019. Probably got lost in the COVID-19 shuffle. I also updated the windsock and the U.S. Flag when I learned how to use SODE with the KASH airport. The SODE files are included in the zip. Here are a couple of screen shots. When I did this I had some really good shots of the interior of the main terminal and included them in Sketchup as best as I could. I also got some assistance from one of the crew with some photos.

Here is the link to the airport

For some reason after I posted the third photo, I couldn't give you the link to download this from mediafire so here it is:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/74s7f1cztb3rxt5/KMBL+Manistee+Cty+Blacker+Airport.zip/file

Cape Air flies Cessna C402's and Martinaire flies C208Bs from KMBL. North Country Sky is a scheduled and also charter airline. Scheduled flights are to and from Chicago Midway and Manistee Co-Blacker as well as other destinations which can be found at Flightaware throughout the day. Of course you can always fly your own aircraft to either of Ed's two beautiful Michigan Airports.

Anyone who downloads it please let me know if anything needs a fix. I use FSX (Box) so Steam and P3D users I would really appreciate any comments. Merry Christmas to all. (And Happy Chanukah, too.)

KGRR Gerald Ford Airport to Manistee Co Blacker

I just finished a really nice flight from KGRR Gerald R Ford airport south of here in my default C172. The KGRR airport by Matthew Hollcraft at Perfect Flight I found by Google. It is really nice though maybe a little old (2013) but its free. Here is a screenshot of the main terminal and it is photoreal backgrounds. I just went over to Flightsim.com to see if it was there and it is as well as an updated custom made tower which I just downloaded and will install before I fly back.

Kgrr 2021

Since this was done in 2013, up to date at that time, I checked to see if KGRR had been updated any since then to find out indeed it had. I was going to write to Matthew and see if he planned any further updates to it to find that Dillon Rocque has just released KGRR 2021 complete and up to date at AVSIM which I just downloaded and will replace this one with. Want to keep you up to date...he asked that we share this news.

Which KGRR Is Better

After comparing both Matthew's and Dillon's, if you have an up to date computer like able to run P3D V4 etc, then Dillon's is the more elaborate. Both I found after downloading the latest Jeppson Airport Diagram are totally accurate as far as AFCAD goes. When I activated Dillon's after removing Matthew's 2013 version, and placing my Feelthere Emb175 at a gate, the fps's on my computer were in mid single digits. Not the most conducive to a good flight, it will hesitate for a fraction of a section as you taxi etc. After I realized that the 2013 is still accurate the 5 year plan of KGRR not yet implemented as far as runway additions/changes I reinstalled the 2013 version to fly. It gives me fps in the 18-20's which on my computer with a detailed airport and a payware aircraft are very usable. That's the story on KGRR Gerald R Ford Michigan airport. I know it was not the KMBL Manistee Co Blacker airport report. My KMBL is the only version that is native FSX and works in P3D. Bobby Johnson created an AFCAD for FS9 back in 2007 with default buildings. So now I have reviewed both. That is the end of this thread for now unless I get some feedback from a downloader/user that needs addressing. Merry Christmas to all and to all...God bless us everyone. :wavey:

Up All Night

Last night was a rough night since I am still trying to get over COVID so to take my mind off being miserable, I resurrected this airport that I gave up on night texture when this first came on 3 weeks ago. I "glazed" all the windows so I had a texture to create an LM for and used MDCx to add it to the regular texture as an emissive texture for dusk and night. I tested it and all the windows are lit and you can even see inside. Then I tackled a harder one: illuminating the stone panels with the airport name and general aviation on the ramp side. I have been watching inflight videos of Cessna Grand Caravans and Cape Air 402Cs I got off uTube and the one that prompted this was the inaugeration flight of the PC-2012 Traveler that Cape Air is replacing their 402's with from Manistee to Chicago Midway and back. The flight left before dawn and I got to see some really good terminal shots of which one was that stone panel in the front. The stone texture in Sketchup is used in multiple places on the terminal so I just couldn't create an LM texture of it so I opened it up in Sketchup and then took a screenshot of the front and back of the terminal and then cropped just those two sections as jpg's. Opened up the terminal again in Sketchup and put these AS textures over those walls. Finally, I opened up the textures in Photoshop and airbrushed around the words to look like a spot which you can't do with MDCx in FSX and here are the results I am please with. I am going to give you a link to a new package to download with these.
