Mannheim Germany at the Sandhofen airfield

I am surprised that no one has made scenery for this famous airbase. Hermann Goering started the construction of this base in 1937. There was a prisoner Camp ran by the SS on the Base. The prisoners did a lot of the underground hangers and tunnels to each building, which was flooded when the Base fell to the US Army. The Base was next to the Autobahn which was used to take off and land the aircraft hidden underground. Many Two story buildings were made there and housed the Germans. I was stationed there in the 60 and got to know the history of the place. Many plans of Coleman Barracks are on the internet. If anyone knows of this place and knows of scenery please let me know. :encouragement::encouragement::encouragement::encouragement::encouragement:

There is a CFS1 version by Wolfgang Grunewald at Simviation. I'm not sure how accurate it is but you will need this flatten for it to display correctly.

Thanks for the information

This is where Franz Werr was stationed. He was the only flyer to escape the British and return to Germany, after being shot down in England. The rifle range was the entrance to the underground hangers. It is covered with dirt at the entrance of the concrete elevators. :encouragement::encouragement::encouragement::encouragement::encouragement:

Can this work in CFS2

What would have to be done to make it work in CFS2, or could it work in CFS2? :adoration::adoration::adoration:

If you have other CFS2 German airfields by Achim or Captain Kurt, just put the Sandhofen BGL files in either of their scenery sub-folders and the bitmap textures in the associated texture sub-folders. Don't forget the flatten BGL I sent.

Here is the airbases.dat entry:

[runway.nnn]
id=nnnn
name=Mannheim-Sandhofen
heading=330
allegiance=2
units_across=2
base_lat=N49 33.49
base_lon=E8 27.63
base_alt=300
takeoff_start_pos=0,0
takeoff_stop_pos=1600,200
landing_start_pos=5000,350
landing_touchdown_pos=600,0
landing_stop_pos=-250,0

Here is what it looks like.

Did that but the airfield Menue does not show sandhofen

I did that and it shows when you use world coordinates and show well. the trees? can they be changed to reflect a newer model? Sandhofen does not show in the airfields menu? Thanks for the effort. No one would know the Real place from this model. the underground hangers are not there and the tanks(fuel) are not there. I loved this place but the AutoBahn next to it is missing with many buildings. :biggrin-new::biggrin-new::biggrin-new:

You could open this scenery in Mission Builder and replace all the API objects with GSL ones. When done, send me the GSL file and I'll get rid of the API objects for you.

The AFD entry is contained in the file Sandhfnapt.bgl. The entry reads Mannheim-Sandhofen.
