Markus....A possible request of you?

That's indeed a cute Canary!
Thanks for the proposal, I'll take it into account (once those darn compatibility issues are solved...).

Cheers,
Markus.

First sketch...

quick & dirty:

Thanks, mate!

Think I'm getting closer to it:

BTW:
How does my recent FSX Mount Cook Bushwagon (uploaded yesterday) work for you FSX guys?
Everything in place?
Fortunately, this N5073R doesn't bear its rego on the rudder, so there'll be no issues turning it into the FSX version...

Cheers,
Markus.

I took note of the mapping issue and thought of this particular paint right off. At first sight the color choices just grabbed me. I never could find a top-down shot. Then again, how many floaters do you see doing stunts?..lol.

It's looking better indeed.

I've included a goody for you to look at ;) It may be of help?

Some more teasing...

The image you dug out is very useful, as it contains all important items!

Two bummers found:
After some research, I've found out that the real N5073R obviously is fitted with AEROCET 3500L fibreglass straight floats, available here:
http://www.aerocet.com/3500.html
Note: "One size fits all: C180, 182, 185, 206"

Carenado's original straight floats appeared like an old steam boiler to me, so I've fiddled on them to better match. But as the float's outer textures are mirrored, the AEROCET logo applied gets flipped on the right hand side - I think I'd better omit it...

Bummer #2:
The door's upper hinge apparently is mapped through an item I didn't found - probably by the lower hinge. Thus, the red cheatline gets interrupted.
Workaround: Imagining this hinge was a spare part which got mounted without painting it over...

180,182,185,206

Forget about the hinge issue:
Got it sorted out!

Note the torn-off paint on the pilot's and baggage door sills and handles.
Just a little tear & wear...

And another issue is cured:
Although the straight float model is fitted with a two-bladed prop, the rotating blur was the same as the three-blader. Fixed it:

Nice work Markus! She's looking Be-YouTea-Full.:applause:

On another note, it's real sad that the Carenado boys won't fix the obvious. Instead they keep sweeping it under the carpet :173go1:

Thanks for this feedback, guys! :salute:

Admitted there are some rather minor glitches, it's still a very accurate modeled aircraft with jaw-dropping base textures to play with! I'm still having a ball fiddling on details:

The included float struts suffered from some severe biofouling, attacked by (presumably) clams, barnacles and evil corrosion, so I cleaned up this mess...

Looking better and better. From the sounds of the way it's going, and the new snaps, it's going great. Your handy work will be appreciated for sure :wavey:

You're right, mate!
Thanks for pointing me to it - and just at the right moment, for I was almost about considering it finished...
It's just another layer to be added.

Cheers,
Markus.

btw:
It was no nitpicking at all!
Remarks such as yours are my reason to post these WIP shots here.

I took the photo into photoshop and enlarged it. The red is actually a right-downward dropped shadow

Looks good with the shadows, doesn't it?

For the friends of harder runways:
The amphibious floats of course will receive similar treatment!

Anything left to improve?

Cheers,
Markus.
