Martin Baltimore MK.V

Francesco Giuli made some very nice FS9/FSX Martin Baltimores a while back. I reckon you should be able to use the texure in my CFS2 pack on the original MK.V model.

good to see a 13 (Hellenic) Squadron bird... or to myself and many other Greek speakers; 13 Μοίρα Ελαφρού Βομβαρδισμού (theka-tria mira Ellaf-roo vom-var-this-mou), this squadron and the 336th (Hellenic) Squadron merged to become the 336th Royal Hellenic Air Force Squadron, a squadron that today still exists, based at Araxos AB flying A-7's and TA-7's continuing the 'light bomber' role (Previous to A-7's up till 1993 was the F-104G), my one 'grandfather' (not blood relation but an old guy who was like family) had fond memories of the Baltimores having flown in them numerous times but ending up going from Helldiver, to Hurricane, to Spitfire, getting injured in a road accident which led to him being grounded for a while before he resumed on the F-86's...

anything HAF, RHAF or RAF Hellenic Squadrons is great to see for me.... many, many thanks

Thank You very much Morton!
I adopted them this first thing this morning into FS9! Looking great!
Especially the weathering and the 'natural' matte paints.
They really bring this fantastic model to life!
Is there an alternative prop for FS9? I've tried everything possible, but it's modelled, not textured.
Such a shame!

stuartcox,

Probably a dumb suggestion, but have you tried Giuli's original FS9 or FSX model + prop texture?

Cheers Morton, I have tried all three! (FS9, FSX & CFS2). Even after deleting the prop textures I'm left with solid 'modelled' disks, as can be seen on the screenshot.
These are the ones I wanted to delete.
Never mind, I can live with it - just a minor drawback on an outstanding model. I guess I am a bit too 'picky'...

Prop fix ?
Indeed but it's a FSX model and DDS textures ...
Normaly .. this will not work in FS2004

Thanks Morton.
The only thing that he changed was the actual prop texture, but not the mdl issue.
He put a 2-blade alpha on a simplified disk.. Unusual!.

Andre, a fellow SOH member, has been working on an alternative mdl file and prop texture for the Baltimore.
I was allowed to have a preview of the new propellers, and they look stunning in FS9! Just as I imagined.
Together with Morton's textures, this has become a real jewel.
He is awaiting permission from F. Giuli to publish the modified files, so they can be shared. A real treat!

Thanks to Andre, Beers on me! :icon29:

I have been given permission by Francesco Giuli to release the modified MDL that allows for transparent prop textures. Thanks to Francesco for the great model, Morton for the wonderful textures and Stuart for insisting that I upload the modification. :salute:

Sorry Andre, it was almost blackmail :)
I know the 'read me's' can be a pain in the neck, but I would have quite happily helped you.
Thanks once again for sharing!
Great job done!

Morton's textures have always been exceptional, and I am currently using them on the WoP FW-190D and a Do-335 Arrow. (The Arrow was a donationware model but I can't remember who's... it is an updated version for FS9). Reading this thread has prompted me to search out the FS9 version of the Martin Baltimore and add Morton's brush work to it. Suffice to say the model looks stunning with them. Thanks Morton!

Thank you for the modified model
As I make a "fixation" on props rendition .. that's a +10 improvement !!
