• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Today is the Reverend's day and I hope that you all enjoyed a nice peaceful holiday and reflect back on his message.

I believe that he was talking to the individual as well as the nations when he said:

"Judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
 
It started off as a stressfull day for me - I learned I may need another back surgery. I helped a couple of vets put in appeals and claims for the VA today (I'm a DAV service officer now) and that helped to calm me some. My colleagues at the Dav and I all reflected about the past and how far we as a nation and a world have come and noted that we still a ways to go.

Dr King taught that the struggle for freedom and justce is an ongoing campaign and that we must always strive to better ourselves. Thank you Jagdflieger for your words and call on us for reflection. In the words of The Battle Hymn of the Republic... "As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free..."
 
I make sure that his legacy and the cause that he helped to develop and lead remains ever-present, and that my students have a healthy appreciation of him and what he stood for.
