tommieboy

SOH-CM-2025
TEXTURES ONLY......

This is a fictitious RAF Coastal Command repaint.

Available in Avsim's library now!

Search for:

virtavia_martin_mars_coastal_command_v1.0.zip

If you are having issues with avsim's library search engine in finding the zip file as noted above, try typing in the following words in the "quick search" box:

martin mars

That should bring up all of the Martin Mars repaints.

Great looking paint! Well done...thanks!

It appears you really like those Martins. I think you might be happy about what's in the shop right now.

Yeah, I like the Martin Mars......It is also is easy on my FPS on my old computer; not so with many on the newer releases. But in any case, I am sure I'll like what is coming out of the shop, what ever it is......:encouragement:

Very nice pant,Tommy!:applause:
I wish,the Mars has a better VC.
Mike

Thanks Mike.....

Yeah, an updated VC would be nice too. The old steam gauge cockpit seems to be the likely candidate, as the newer upgraded glass instrument panels used in Coulson's Hawaii Mars water bomber might be a pain and not worth it for the one and only aircraft that uses these new panels. In any case those glass instrument panels can drag my FPS down big time on my old computer rig, so I'm not a big fan of them. That might change if and when I get around to upgrading my computer.

Some minor upgrading to the model and texture mapping (the engine cowl mapping comes to mind) would also be welcome. I may end up have to redo all of my repaints if that ever happens, but that would be a first for us repainters in any case, so that would not be a big deal.

I'd like to see the Caroline Mars JRM-2, the R4360 powered version of the Martin Mars too. That was pretty brutal engine set-up for a flying boat, and set all of the records for the Martin Mars. The only visible exterior difference that I could see was the extension to the engine cowl to accommodate the longer R4360 engine. If that is indeed true, it might make for an easy model update. The revised cowl looked a bit odd, in that it looks like the engineers commandeered some office trash cans and slipped them over the front of the engines.....:biggrin-new:

Fantastic scheme, just looks right.

Thanks jetstreamsky......

I'm pretty much a zero when it comes to RAF history / paint schemes / paint colors, so I just did my best to make it look right based on what I could glean off of the internet.
