Bear in mind that the green/black scheme was phased out during 1943, and that the two-tone grey uppersurfaces introduced in 1943 were standard by the beginning of 1944. Having said that, there may have been some still painted in dark green and tan during the summer of 1944.
 
Any of the skins that I uploaded were someone elses work that
I converted to CFS3 textures and uploaded with their permission. Can't remember who now and I don't have Nigel's historical prowress to say which skin comes from which era. Thats OK, I count on Nigel to fill in the blanks!

And I have absolutely NO reference material worth mentioning on La-5s. The first step in doing any skin worth getting excited about usually involves spending a considerable amount of time and money getting the books and sources sorted out...

If everybody would like to contribute 1 Euro for every skin of mine currently on their computers, it might give me some working capital!
